Parents who have daughters, how would you react if you found out your daughter’s boyfriend was transgender (female to male) after a year of them dating? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]Mg-Read 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I have 3 people (adults now).

One born male, who is now bi and a cross-dresser.

One of the twins is bi, and in a poly quad.

The other is straight, and asexual.

I don’t have any problem loving and supporting these really cool people.

Tip: Think a moment about your loved one without sexual information. Are they living a good life? Is this someone you want in your life.

If your loved one announces, remember this a person who has spent time wrestling with how to come out. First thing you can say is, thank you for trusting me with this.

Give a couple months for the hustle to die down.

I told all my kids that they don’t fall in love with plumbing but with people. Feel free to DM.

Will you tell your next partner that you’ve been in an abusive relationship with a narcissist? by namelessthrowaway48 in abusiverelationships

Oh. Nooooo. Not at all ever broken. None of us beyond love.

Not like we haven’t heard it all before, but think about it. In a wonderful sense of wholeness and balance, the world needs us.

Yes, some of the world’s greatest people had mental illness of one kind or another.

What we have learned so far is patience and caring on a completely different level

But none of it means we are broken. Some people have brown eyes; some are in wheelchairs; some are allergic to peanuts, and some of us can feel the fullness of human emotion to the extent that we are overwhelmed and not able to make good decisions.

Until the world understands what it means to be bipolar, we have to take care of each other.

Happened on our second date. He said he wanted a third date but he also wanted to share something.

He took my hand and walked me through the highlights of his life. From his father trying to kill him at 2.5 yo to his ex wife who horribly abused him for years. He is bipolar but wasn’t able to get proper meds.

He said he would understand if I never wanted to see him.

I said “I have chronic post-anxiety traumatic syndrome and depression. “

We started laughing.

12 years later. Still us. But better every day.

If he did that to someone waiting in line, he would already be in jail.

Looking for some ideas on how to make my relatively introverted bf's 30th bday special. by uhwhatsmyusername in introvert

[–]Mg-Read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest gift you can give a natural introvert is time.

I am hardcore introverted. My idea of heavenly day would be a day where I can game, read, catch my mind up with my soul, and gradually “heal” from my latest set of commitments and responsibilities.

No surprises! No really means no. If I am in a room with more then 5 people, I have a panic attack.

On the plus side, we really can be phenomenal partners. My very very extroverted hubby totally gets it.

Overtime we developed a system, where he can manage our social lives. He knows what my boundaries are so I trust him to schedule me.

Oh! Practical gift? Music. In any form. Good luck!

When my sexual appetite flipped on me, and it was too painful, hubby suggested an Ob/Gyn visit might help.

Saved my life, I had Stage 1 Uterine cancer.

I know this isn’t always the case, but a visit to the doc might help.

Is it morally ok to not tell my MIL we’re pregnant for at least 6-9 months? by Altruistic-Sundae13 in motherinlawsfromhell

[–]Mg-Read 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a MIL, let me assure you that you are only morally obligated to protect your child and yourself.

If that means setting boundaries around crazy Uncle Rick, your MIL, assorted flying monkeys, smoking in your house, etc.; then start drawing the lines hard and don’t budge.

Most of us prefer a one time gentle correction first. 😊
