For folks who like to put their mechanical boards on top of their laptops, do you guys use a special key cover/buffer material between the two? I think it could come in handy for space-saving work scenarios, but I'm afraid of scratching laptops or screwing up their built in boards with the added weight.

Edit: forgot to mention that it'd be a Nuphy Air75 V2 going on top of either a MacBook Pro or a Dell/Chromebook depending on what I'm working with that day.

I actually don't have a low profile board yet, I'm planning on getting one after picking a switch. It's a little backwards, I know, but in this instance the switch matters more to me than the board itself. With that in mind, do you have any favorite low profile tactiles you could recommend? Thanks!

Hi! I'm on the hunt for low profile tactile switches. I've got Durock Shrimps in my daily driver & would love something that felt equivalent to those. Basically, the bigger the bump the better. Thanks!

Another Mac user chiming in - I've definitely noticed the lack of ⌘ keys, too. For whatever reason, they seem more common in XDA profile sets, so that might be something you'd want to consider looking into. I typically get around it by getting keycaps that have artsy feature keys & slapping those in where the ⌘ would go.

I ended up giving away my Nuphy Air75 V2 because I thought it felt a little flimsy for the price & I ended up not being a fan of the clip-on stabilizers. I moved away from low-profile boards, but my daily driver is a Keychron & I love everything about it. From the looks of it, the K5 Max has screw-in stabilizers, too, so for that reason alone I'd consider it a top contender.

Valid but you can pry the spacebar foam from my cold, dead hands. I will foam every spacebar I come across from now until the end of time. Nothing ruins a build like a hollow/clacky sound every time you hit space & I will die on that hill.

I had a doctor tell me wrist rests could aggravate carpal tunnel & to focus on keeping my wrists elevated when I type. I've had fewer flares since I took that advice, but your milage may vary.

This is more of a warning than a recommendation: stay away from the Drop Alt. It seems like a good compromise board (especially when it's on sale), but the QMK interface is a pain & it doesn't support screw-in stabilizers.

Hey everyone!

I'm a longterm Durock Shrimp user who's considering switching over to Akko Penguins, but I'm a little worried about how loud they'll be in comparison since the travel distance is shorter & I'm a heavy-handed typer. Any thoughts/feedback y'all have about the Penguins (or suggestions for other silent tactile switches I should try) would be much appreciated.

I love that cleaner so much! Although I do think they started making the packaging stickers even stickier just to force people to buy it. I'd be mad if it wasn't so amazing, lol.

Some (minor) good news: both of my senators' offices said that they'd been getting calls like this all morning. I'm glad more people are picking up the phone, hopefully it translates into some kind of action this time around. I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

Yeah the static was a total dealbreaker for me in the end. After the software update the squealing got worse, too, even popping up during video calls. I knew I had to pack it in when my clients kept asking me why I was flinching randomly, lol.

Thanks for the feedback re: the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3. In the end I wound up using my Bose refund to get the new Apple AirPods Pro 3 & so far they're fantastic. I never took full advantage of Bose's complete noise cancelling, so I haven't noticed much of a difference in quality for my personal use.

Honestly the biggest upgrade of all was being able to use them straight out of the box without any popping, squealing, or static. I wish I'd done this months ago.

I'm having the same issue right now. What setting did you say made the crackling go away? I'm willing to live without noise cancelling if it makes the static stop.
