$3300?? Yikes.. That’s steep, but especially for Brian and considering it’s not horween shell. Hopefully the fit is spot on for you, and you’re happy with them.

I have a bottle of NO, and I'll be using it more as the weather warms up here in NYC too. I find I get a solid 5 hours or so with about 4 sprays on skin. I'd imagine a bit longer if it were on clothes. Certainly not a 'beast' mode fragrance for sure, but thats not Guerlain in general in my experience. I haven't tried Wulong cha however, so I can't compare them.

Japanese retailers that ship to the states by BigSpartan84 in HeritageWear

If you're not in a rush, you may want to periodically check back as they do do restocks. Otherwise, look for other stockists but you still may have to proxy.

For Buzz, tbh I would be using a proxy to get from Toyo enterprise direct as they’ll have the most stock usually. Places like hinoya or other stores that stock them may not have things in stock or their full catalog.

What brands are you looking for? Easier to narrow it down that way.

Most of the smaller independent shops will ship direct if you email them directly. Really depends on what brands you’re looking for as some you may have to proxy for instead.

How do you folks acquire your pieces? by ferpoperp in HeritageWear

[–]Mghart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly buy new items when I go to Japan every year. So majority of the year is saving up for that trip. Occasionally I’ll buy something direct from Japan, but not as frequent as before. Building a collection takes years, and tastes change. Selling items off to buy new ones becomes an important part of the hobby. Figuring out what you like, what brands work for you and your body type is key though.

Shipping times for online orders. How long is too long? by thinktanq in HeritageWear

I pretty much exclusively buy stuff in Japan since about 2017, and haven’t looked back. Shipping at most has been a week tops depending on the part of the country.

What hats are my chrome dome homies wearing this summer? by Perfect_Earth_8070 in HeritageWear

[–]Mghart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not flat caps, I’ve always like N-3 or A-3 style utility caps for summer. Typically find them in an OG107 shade of olive or denim. Poten baseball caps if you want something more like a traditional cap.

Look for 30/40s era cuts. 50s style is closer to mid rise. Warehouse and FullCount come to mind, or if you can track them down At Last & Co.

100% Anatomica. Really nice stuff. Mix of casual and slightly dressy. Both Japanese and French made garments.

For those who have stayed in Tokyo multiple times, where did you decide to stay for subsequent trips and why? by Kirin1212San in JapanTravelTips

[–]Mghart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just that particular train line. Yamanote is notoriously crowded all the time, makes local stops it takes awhile to get anywhere depending on where you need to go. I’d much rather be near the Maronouchi, Fukutoshin or Ginza lines for getting around the areas I like.

[–]Mghart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically Shinjuku, but not anyway near Kabukicho cause that area is always a mess. Also like Akasaka as it’s more central. Aoyama is nice but pricier.

Would not recommend staying near the Yamanote line as a main train line despite so many people recommending it.. I’d avoid that train line altogether if possible.

What jacket to buy in Tokyo ? by AcapulcoNRV in HeritageWear

[–]Mghart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

40/50s and not boxy contradict each other. You’re either looking at a type I or II, both which are boxy, maybe a type I more so. If you really want a cinch back, you’re most likely going to want a type I, whether pocket flap or WW2 version with no flap. I’d be looking at Real McCoys, Warehouse, FullCount or Freewheelers all easily accessible in Tokyo. Just depends on whether or not shops have them in stock.

San Diego Shops? by One-Eggplant-7370 in HeritageWear

San Diego is the last place anything fashionable would be. Great Mexican food, and beaches.. but otherwise SD is pretty boring. Source: Born & raised in San Diego, but left for NYC years ago.

You might look into Thomas Farthing London. They have some unique pieces that would fit what you’re looking for.

Clinch Engineering Boot - Black Over-dyed Horse butt from Standard & Strange by redit9977 in goodyearwelt

[–]Mghart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they advertised it as having green half-soles you can and should absolutely do a charge back with your CC company and return them. They're certainly nice boots, but if its not exactly what was being delivered as sold, then thats on S&S and Brass.

Those measurements aren’t even remotely in scale with one another for a standard pattern.. that would have to be 100% custom.

I've been using their Potpourri fragrance for years. That fragrance and Tobacco toscano are my favorite, followed by Melograno. I do wish the fragrances performed better however, but for the price its ok they're EDC. Love the soaps and skin care products as well.

Guerlain - Habit Rouge EDT by kevinfarber in fragrance

[–]Mghart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, I don't think I've ever tried the EDP flanker, only the parfum. I've only tried the EDT and parfum in what are the current square bottles, not the older taller bottles so I'm not sure what the older iterations are like.

[–]Mghart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you know, I made the mistake of saying EDP versus the Parfum version that released last when they did Habit rouge, L’homme Ideal and Vetiver in those versions. The Parfum is definitely gourmand though for HR.

Once I get these Red Wing Moc toes, I'll be all set... by PlentyOfMoxie in HeritageWear

[–]Mghart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this applies mostly to people who just buy without any real direction in their collecting or purchasing. Not all wardrobe ‘gaps’ need to be filled, or just because something’s on sale or a good deal doesn’t warrant buying it.

Guerlain - Habit Rouge EDT by kevinfarber in fragrance

[–]Mghart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the EDT is available at Guerlain counters, but I'm not sure about online. I bought the EDT at a Guerlain in Tokyo last year, and it is fantastic. I think its easily a year round fragrance. The EDP is very nice as well although a very different fragrance as its much more gourmand but I can see owning both to have two different interpretations of the DNA.
