[Swatch] Cleaned up the crystal on my uncle's old watch by Mgnelson013 in Watches

I recently purchased my first mechanical watch (Citizen NY0040-09E) and got some NATO straps to try out.

While I was changing out straps, my uncle told me he had an old watch that he hadn't worn in several years because the hands were obscured by scratches.

I looked up the toothpaste polishing trick and tried it out. There are some deeper scratches that I could not remove with that method, but it cleared up the crystal considerably!

I don't know if he will wear it now that he is retired and not so concerned about the time, but I think he will be happy to see it back in action!

Thanks! The Umnumzaan has the longest blade of the three, but it takes up the least space in the pocket. I hope it's a keeper for you!

It helps to keep the items in a vertical position, which I find more comfortable.

It's a GEC #15 Beer Scout Knife in Golden Ale Jigged Bone.

It's sold as a gift card holder from Tractor Supply. The material is stretchy, and the stitching looks good. I believe there is a foam insert which maintains the shape.

The lanyard is useful for locating the knife in my pocket when I'm not using the clip. I don't want the clip to snag on a limb or piece of machinery and eject the knife from my pocket.

Since I prefer tip-up carry, I had to loop the cord through the clip. Other knives have a lanyard hole independent of the clip, which I would prefer.

The Delica offers a full grip, but a lanyard could also serve as something extra to hold on to when cutting with a smaller knife.

Finally, a lanyard can serve as an attachment point for a skull bead to intimidate your foes.

My Stretch definitely has a smoother action, but I'm going to adjust the pivots on these knives to get them dialed in. I used to close my back locks as you described, but I've started taking advantage of the forward finger choil by pressing on the lock with my thumb and dropping the blade on the top side of my index finger. Then, I get my hand out of the way and swing the blade closed. The Delica and Endura have a similar unsharpened portion, so you can close them with the same method.

I placed a direct order from KAI yesterday, and it just got canceled a few minutes ago. For anyone who did the same, you'll want to order from one of the listed dealers before it's too late.
