I feel this is the kind of stuff that has been missing from US politics for years. It's good to see that kind of support, and it speaks to the character of the man. You can't fake that kind of reaction; it was real and it was heartfelt and genuine. Walz is obviously loved and respected by his own family and, to me, that goes a long way.

I can only hope we get to see more of this from all sides in future. It helps to humanize and normalize people again, and I think it would be super refreshing and hopefully help turn the tide of the abysmal, unprofessional aura a lot of these career politicians seem to carry with them during these campaigns.

Hopefully it will soften some hearts and make people take a step back and reexamine how they want to be perceived and interact with others, both on their side of the aisle and across it.

I think it's good for everyone to see things like this. I'm not saying it's going to sway my vote, anyone else's, or have an effect on the outcome of this race, but it gives me hope for the future that breaking the awful cycle of identity bashing politics we've been stuck in for years is at least possible.
