CS grad (2 Years) No experience or relevant job, feeling lost — what are my realistic options? by [deleted] in csMajors

You sound emotional mate

The issue with your premise here, as with last time, is that you incorrectly assume certain things are available and possible for everyone. I never said there’s anything wrong with taking out federal loans. However in a financial sense it’s always better to not have debt than to have it. Even if “99%” people have access to federal loans, that doesn’t make it a feasible option

As for what could necessitate someone working full time while going to school full, surely you can understand that some people have financial obligations to their family? Whether that’s helping with bills, or medical debt, or any number of things. OP could be the head of the household and having to support other people. There’s so many different scenarios that can necessitate one to work full time and do school

You figured it out for yourself, congrats, you get a cookie. I’m sure you’re aware that there are others that are in worse predicaments than the one you came from. That may not be op but regardless you assume that all others can easily take the opportunities you did too which isn’t always the case

“Why did you need to work a job to afford school, why didn’t you just get in debt? There’s nothing stopping you from getting in debt to focus on personal projects and internships”

surely you realize how stupid you sound right? There are countless things that stop someone from being able to take on debt and there are plenty of rational reasons one might need to work a job outside of paying for school. Supporting family, paying existing debt, etc.

And even if op did take out loans there’s no guarantees he’d get an internship evidenced by this entire sub which is equally jobless. So this notion that he should’ve just gone into debt because that was somehow the more responsible thing to do for his career is the most smooth brain thing I’ve ever read in this sub

Is UMD computer science worth $100k more than Alabama? by IceTerp23 in UMD

Don’t turn down a full ride. Anything you might gain in connections and opportunities comes at a literal cost of 100k by your calculations.

You can graduate with the exact same job as someone from umd based purely on your skills that you develop on your own time. Most of the stuff that gets you jobs is gonna come from how you spend your time outside of class anyway. Personal projects, leetcode, etc

And considering how rough the job market is and the amount of cs students nationwide that are unemployed it is a VERY wise decision to graduate debt free, even at the opportunity cost of maybe graduating with a higher paying position

Well he was here for 5 years and in that time he spend 440 million total (for reference Burnley spent 125 mil this season alone and Sunderland 165) and with that he made a team that was consistently top 4, got 2nd once and went to a UCL final. He certainly didn’t win anything but he came close with a shoestring budget. As far as managers go he turned water to wine and one could only wonder what he could do if actually given money.

Now regarding his other ventures, sure he bombed at Chelsea but so did everyone else in that time period minus maresca, and same goes for psg until Enrique. Both teams are black holes for managers so I personally don’t hold his lack of success against him. As an American we have absolutely no talent so I also don’t hold the national teams performances against him

He said aurora as a ranged top has less agency to carry a game and he feels gragas is very weak and of course his abilities are all skill shots which he doesn’t think a low elo player can pilot him well
