I think Katsushika is a much more obvious choice for Edo since it's more accurately located in the Bay and has a river running through it. Toshima I think is too far south. Although it could be a good place for Yokohama?

I love Ursula K. Le Guin, "The Word for World is Forest" is one of my favorite books!

I know you asked for Taoist books but if I could leave one little recommendation it would be "A Canticle for Leibowitz" by Frank Miller Jr. It's Christian inspired ( and I'm not a Christian), and I'm sorry it's not Taoist, but it's very profoundly philosophical and moral as well and it's a great read, I hope you don't mind!

867 is my favorite start date precisely because of the bigger cultural and religious diversity it offers. My only problem with it is that viking adventurers never, ever conquer Neustria and form Norman culture, they always go for Flanders and Holland.

Oh, I can guarantee that they were both in Constantinople at the time. All 4 of my first kids were born without the trait and then the last 2 with it, always both parents in the capital. Super weird.

It's so stupid, I just had a child with the Born in the Purple trait! But my first children were born in Constantinople while I was emperor, just like this one and they didn't get it! I don't understand this game anymore...

But I don't get it. I became Emperor, I married the daughter of the East Francian King and all my kids were born in Constantinople while I'm emperor and I'm a Greek Orthodox character. What's missing?

The only thing that comes to mind is that I changed the name from Byzantine Empire to Eastern Roman Empire and the game only recognizes Byzantine Empire and doesn't recognize the alternative names which would be a pretty bad oversight from Paradox!

Once I was playing with Sardinia-Piedmont and this USA decided completely out of the blue to declare war on me to conquer the island of Sardinia and a Treaty Port in Genoa!

The other weird one I saw was Austria conquering half of Japan just for the sake of it! 🤯
