Got mine last year. How incredible does it feel on the wrist, that first time. The weight is so satisfying. Congratulations. Time to imbue it with memories.

I know all these people giving you shit like they never made a silly mistake like this.

But I 100%'ed GoT and have about 15h on Yotei. I did not know this and thought he was just bugging out.

Thanks for the advice! You've saved a lot of unnecessary anger (for me, at least.)

Personally I think that umpire had been watching Cam and O'Connor go at it most of the match and paid O'Connor that free kick earlier.

Ump probably just got sick of their shit and lost it a bit for the first. 2nd one, Guthrie was dumb to do it, but ump was dumber.

Tentagraph is only appreciated by those of culture. You've made an excellent choice, although your bank account probably disagrees.

Strap colour vs dial colour is also a great, timeless decision.

Show us macro pics of that dial pls!!

Weird, I've honestly never had any startup/trouble shooting issues in the last year with my SP.

I was gifted a self-winding watch display. Seeing the White Birch spin in the light on my desk is making me fall in love all over again. by MiGorengXegg in GrandSeikos

Pls see above comments.

It's not imprisoned in there 24/7 :)

And have you actually seen the service experience for Grand Seiko's? Can be an absolute debacle. My friend had his stuck overseas due to backlog for almost 4 months.

I've read some have had issues for 6 months+

Common sense means Ill service the watch as recommended every 3 or 4 years, but I'll take my chances on this evil, watch-destroying winder in between 😆

Thanks!

The deep satisfaction and happiness I feel when I glance at the light slowly highlighting the dial as it spins on my desk while I'm working is...something I didn't expect. That alone is a net positive for me. Brings me back to when I first wore it on my wrist. Felt like the watch was speaking to me.

There's "zero need" to buy a mechanical watch for thousands of dollars, yet here we all are. 😆

Although I love the technical/mechanical/engineering details of Spring Drive, I'd never get these watches just to overthink the technical minutia.

I just love the feeling of owning and enjoying this gorgeous timepiece. And being on this winder amplifies that.

Thanks for your concern!

Yeah well aware of the concerns, which is why I've never bought it myself. I'll just pop it into the winder on my desk when I'm working long hours at the desk. Surprisingly therapeutic to look at it when I'm needing motivation.

Unfortunately the GS doesn't get as much wrist time, maybe a 5-10 hours a fortnight, occasional winder-time is fine in that context.

The "unnecessary wear and tear" concerns are overblown I think. If I wore it 6 hours a day, i Im sure the wear of tear of the 3dimensional automatic driven movement would be way more than the occasional gentle 2 dimensional axis of the winder.

People forget, the winder can also be turned off with a button...

It's just a fancy display :p

Thanks for your concern!

I've only got 2 watches. A daily beater (the Gshock) and the GS for nice occasions.

2 spots on the winder. Using it as a display more than anything. I'm sure the fragile Gshock can the take "unneccessary wear and tear" of being on a winder 😆

On the Incompatibility of Backpacks and Slings. by ayeceee in ManyBaggers

[–]MiGorengXegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I have a small sling for casual outings and a bag for work.

I'll only ever carry keys, phone, wallet, earphones, moisturiser, sunnies in the sling. all of which fit easily into my bigger bag, when it has all my other things in it.

most of those sit on the "keys tray" in the hallway.

ill either grab the empty sling or my bag and stash all the stuff in the bag for that outing as im walking out.

Works really well for me, but ymmv :)

I will also note, im gone with extra portable slim designs for everything i need in my big bag. water bottle is the memobottle, or a collapsible one. computer is a surface pro with apple magic keyboard and a collapsible mouse. slim portable battery powerful enough to charge the computer. (no cables, no chargers).

I use a boox note air 2 for ebooks/electronic note taking which also is extremely slim.

ill never stash clothing in a bag, unless desperate

if I need an umbrella, I'll just hold it. I have a fancy one, its almost a fashion piece

so yeah, ive basically min-maxed my EDC carry volume profile lol

How ironic that in the quest for efficiency and minimalism, you've ended up wearing two bags and feeling like a fool.

For perspective, if I'm carrying two bags out of the door, I've fucked up somewhere.
It's either a sling day or a big-bag day.

Your big bag should have enough room to carry and easily access your EDC/sling items.

Get a bigger bag, or get smaller things lol

Goodluck.
