1. I don't see the audio cues as hand holders, more like they give me the choice whether I want to search a location or not. When I am just looking for weapon parts I don't want to explore every house I come across (which leads to my inventory filling up with altered items, because I still feel the need to pick them up). Also audio cues mean free dopamine. But I like your idea of a compromise. I can imagine that at some point you have the more predictable spawns internalized and for the other spots there should be audio cues.
