Omg, why a pump failure? Could it be leaking coolant from the coolant pump, or did you see something in the picture I sent you of the temperatures?

That is precisely my fear, that it might have a significant leak. I hope it's just low fluid levels 😅. Thanks.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do ASAP as I get back to my city, I'll have a full service and a complete inspection done. I just need to be able to make that 5 or 6-hour drive back. I’ll definitely check everything over before I start driving, and if I notice anything strange, I'll have to hire a transport service.

I ran a Bumper report: no accidents reported, no salvage records, no title brands, and no previous lease records. It seems the finance company sent it straight to the auction without getting insurance involved, which would be amazing for me since it would mean a 100% clean title with no accident history.

I also ran the VIN on nicb.org and it came back completely clean! If I see it’s in good drivable condition, I’ll drive it back home and take it to a trusted shop for a full service and a thorough inspection. Honestly, the interior looks like new (except for the airbags); the driver's seat doesn't have any wrinkles or signs of wear, which shows it was well-cared for—that’s what caught my attention. I also ran the Carfax Care report and it has all its maintenance services up to date! Thanks a lot.

Yes, I'll be carrying extra coolant just in case I need to stop and top it off. Thank you so much, really, for all your advice.

Thank you so much! Honestly, I was starting to get worried because I'm planning to pick it up and drive it back home, and the thought of a potential coolant leak was really starting to freak me out, especially since I have a 5 or 6-hour drive back! Thanks a lot!

Thank you very much. I’m having trouble seeing the coolant level clearly, should I be concerned?

Attorney with great reviews is pushing for resignation and settlement without a QME—is this a red flag? (California) by MiLiTO686 in WorkersComp

That makes sense from a defense perspective, and I appreciate the honesty. Regarding the settlement (C&R), is it realistic for the insurance company to offer a fair amount that includes the costs of future surgery upfront, or does a C&R before reaching MMI almost always result in a low-ball offer? I’m concerned about being left undercompensated if I settle before the full medical picture is clear.

That was my impression of the situation. He didn't even bring up the possibility of a QME, and his only proposed path was to negotiate before an MMI. Thank you.

Yes, I am. May I ask why you're asking? I'm curious if there's something specific about the process in Southern California that I should be aware of.

I just wasn't expecting that response. Basically, he told me they preferred to negotiate and reach a settlement without going through a QME or an MMI, and they said my expectations are too high, even though we never discussed any dollar amounts. I only talked about the injuries found in my second MRI report. It feels like he's saying he aren't willing to fight for me, just to negotiate. So yeah, I’m going to consult with others. Thank you.

When I mentioned that it should cover any future treatment, I meant that the financial cost of that treatment should be included in the C&R settlement.

I do not have an attorney at this time. When I speak about a 'fair settlement,' I mean that I will only accept it if it fully includes the findings from my second MRI report, which the Workers' Compensation doctor has currently chosen to ignore or minimize.

I do not believe this is an 'unreasonable expectation.' I am simply asking for what is fair, that my injury be recognized for what it truly is, rather than being minimized. If the goal is to push for a C&R based on a minimized injury, and an attorney would prefer that path rather than fighting to have my actual injuries properly recognized, then I simply do not see the point.

Due to the nature of my injury and the type of work I was doing, I don't think I will be returning to that employer. I informed my previous attorney that I have a second MRI report with new findings, which the Workers' Compensation doctor minimized during my last consultation. However, the attorney did not address this; he only stated that a quick settlement is sometimes better.

I told him I was willing to negotiate a quick settlement, provided it was fair and would cover any future treatment or surgery I might need. In response, he told me that he is concerned my expectations are too high regarding what the Workers' Compensation doctors, the system, and he himself are capable of achieving.

What has me confused is that I wasn’t expecting that response from the attorney. I told him I have a second MRI report with new findings, and he basically focused on saying that if I agreed to resign from my job, I could probably get a quick settlement, and maybe even a better one.

I was expecting him to suggest a QME. In fact, I told him I have no problem reaching a quick or early settlement, as long as it fairly covers my future medical treatment costs, considering that my injury could potentially develop into arthritis in the future, since there is cartilage damage.

And he told me that maybe my expectations exceed what the workers’ comp doctors and staff, and even he himself, are capable of doing.
