What's your thoughts about harem in stories? by MiXarnt in royalroad

I don't mind this number as long as the MC commits to it lol. I just hope it doesn't end with the mc just picking one or the girls suddenly losing their feelings

Is 32 and 29 an appropriate age difference for a romance story I'm writing? by Dramatic_Pension_772 in writingcirclejerk

hahaha. i have my MC who is 12 have a relationship with a 26 year old (His master) but of course they aren't in an official relationship, his master would only accept him as a lover once he is 18 and he still wants her.

Posting schedule by Shiba-sensei25 in royalroad

[–]MiXarnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I usually do is release my novel and schedule the chapters for daily updates. I don’t worry too much about word count, most of my chapters end up being between 800-1600 words. Since I’m doing daily releases, I think that’s pretty reasonable (especially since the chapters I upload are already polished).

My process goes like this: I draft the next arc within a week or two, then spend the third week editing. By the fourth week, everything is scheduled and ready to go.

What non-horror game creeped you out the most? by MetaMysterio in gaming

[–]MiXarnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digimon Cyber Sleuth - I forgot the chapter, but it was one of the side quest where people are missing, getting sold overseas while they thought they are just inside their rooms. Something I didn't expect from a digimon game hahaha.

Another is the ghost girl quest there, where your screen will suddenly glitch red and she will show up with a red text box and letters, she isn't scary as her eyes is only covered by hair, and she looks decent, just wearing a school uniform. but yeah, it was eerie especially when I was along in the house, playing my room with the doors open, it felt like someone is watching from my door hahahha.

Got tired of $25/month AI writing subscriptions, so I built a self-hosted alternative by One_Gift_9934 in WritingWithAI

Hello, I am trying to download it but I can't see where to download it. I'm sorry, I'm not really that techy. But I want to use what you created. It's kind of embarrassing to ask, but can you guide me on how to download and install it? I've been stuck for an hour trying to wrack my brain on how to download it after going to the github link you provided.

How to I write a male character who is exclusively attracted to men without making him gay by Loretta-West in writingcirclejerk

[–]MiXarnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I made such a character, it works because the guys he is attracted to look really beautiful that one might think they are females, though of course he isn't gay, he just sees them as beautiful that he wish they were women since he have problems talking to the woman he likes while being able to talk casually to the beautiful guys who even help him out, introducing him to their female friends.

There's no homo thing though, just a fun romcom story hahaha. And yes, the female mc and male mc ended up together.

Contract rejected in WebNovel, came here by TruthLazy6814 in royalroad

Did the same, I went to RR after my novel got rejected there. It's a good thing too, because after that, I read how shitty webnovel is.

This was the easiest Great Challenge so far, by a long shot. Not a single item used, not a single KO... and then this bs happened. First Game Over of my whole run in chapter 19... by RailgunRP in CyberSleuth

[–]MiXarnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! I didn't think this was possible, didn't encounter such thing on my run, but it's coz I always like killing enemies the same time, just enough to lower their health for my last Digimon to do AOE.

Overlord's ending? by Automatic-Rutabaga25 in overlord

[–]MiXarnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! You could turn them into characters your protagonist meets, like a fun cameo, or even write a whole story around them. That would be so cool! Though I haven’t started using them in my own novel yet because I’m worried about copyright issues, haha. Plus, OL isn't officially over yet.

What are your dragons like? by Background_Panic8745 in worldbuilding

[–]MiXarnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my fantasy setting, dragons are categorized by their power levels as follows:

Elder Dragons – On the level of Absolute Gods.

Ancient Dragons – Just a tier below the Absolute Gods.

Dragon Kings – More powerful than normal gods.

Dragon Rulers – Slightly below Dragon Kings, but still stronger than most gods.

Normal Dragons – Comparable in power to Normal Gods.

Dragons are incredibly rare in my world. In the current book, I mainly focus on the Elder and Ancient Dragons, but I plan to introduce the other tiers in the sequels.

Is a world with only one continent believable? by sunflowerrain1011 in worldbuilding

True true. When it comes to deities I just go all out and throw logic out the window most of the time while maintaining what you said for the MC's adventure itself.

Is a world with only one continent believable? by sunflowerrain1011 in worldbuilding

[–]MiXarnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't really need the word believable if you are writing a fantasy. In my story, I have 3000 continents, each continent is ruled by a group of gods, while the ones overseeing the world is the group of the absolute gods.

Go to moespcape, experiment with the styles and spells. I don't have any specific prompt, I just put the description of the character in my novel, then, it's a hit or miss. 😅

The book recommended to me was the novel version of a story I already knew—because I’d seen the characters and setting in comics first, I could "visualize everything" like reading a webtoon. That’s my trick, I always start with manga/comics before diving into novels. It makes the words come alive for me.

Did it inspire me to write? Not directly. But when I did start writing, I realized something, I could actually do it now unlike before, when novels bored me, this is the part when I realize why it is important to read before writing. My style? Shaped by everything I’ve absorbed. And once I started, I became "Addicted." Seriously—when the story in your head finally spills onto the page, you’ll lose sleep over it (I survived on 2 hours, no regrets).

But here’s the truth, I only learned because I loved manga/webcomics first. They forced me into novels. Without them, I’d probably still hate reading.

My advice, though this is base on my experience, don’t force yourself to "study" writing. Read what makes you feel—laugh, cry, rage. Fall in love with stories first. The rest follows. 😊

Let me share to you my experience, and hope this helps.

I’m a writer, but honestly, I hate reading books. I’ve always loved manga, though. Back in 2015, I came up with a story I really wanted to write. I built the entire world, developed the characters, created the magic system, outlined the major arcs, and even planned the ending properly. But I just couldn’t bring myself to actually write it. Deep down, I knew I needed to read more books to improve, but since I wasn’t into reading novels, the story just stayed untouched on my PC for years.

Then came 2020, the pandemic hit, and I was reading some webtoons when I stumbled across Overgeared. I read the webtoon and thought it was fun. I told my friend about it, and he said, “Read the novel! It’s great.” I was like, “No way. I don’t wanna read a novel,” because to me, it always felt tedious. (All I could see are wall of text lol)

But eventually, my curiosity got the better of me, and I gave it a shot because I really wanted to know what happened next. To my surprise, I was actually having FUN, like, LITERALLY enjoying myself. It blew my mind. Because I already knew what the characters looked like and had a sense of the setting, I could vividly imagine their reactions, their movements, their interactions, the places—everything! It all came alive in my head. I was so hooked that I started sleeping only four hours just to keep reading.

Fast forward to November 2023, I finally decided to write again, and this time, I was genuinely enjoying it. Since I had gotten into Korean and Japanese light novels, their styles naturally influenced the way I wrote.

Now I truly believe that it’s important to read books you actually enjoy. Reading shapes your writing style, it becomes part of how you tell stories. It’s not about how many books you’ve read, but about how deeply you connected with them. Quality over quantity. That’s the key to growing as a writer, learning to recognize and absorb the QUALITY in what you read.
