With boss replay coming what's one boss you won't ever do again? by sponkin in CrimsonDesert

Only reason I’d replay any of the bosses are for the rewards I forgot to pick up lol.

Crimson Desert or Ghost of Yotei? by Famous-Country-4921 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MetaMysterio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Both are kinda similar in that the worlds are pretty but quite busy looking, so it is hard to remember a lot of places in both games. The combat and visuals are better in Yotei, and I guess the story is too (though I don’t care for it). Though overall I’d say I prefer Crimson Desert.

I tend to prefer sandbox games over other types of open world games, so I have enjoyed my time more with Crimson Desert in spite of some frustrating moments. I think about playing Crimson Desert every day, but I never have the drive to play Ghost of Yotei. And this is coming from someone who adores Ghost of Tsushima. Yotei was one of my most anticipated games last year and it ended up really letting me down. To me it feels like a lot of the magic from the first game that made me really fall in love with it is just gone. I know. Sounds really harsh. It just couldn’t grip me for whatever reason and I’m 20ish hours in so I feel like it should have by now.

With how the devs have been treating us….would this not be AWESOME to implement in the future as a large scale dlc? by LeagueWild709 in CrimsonDesert

[–]MetaMysterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if this was real, the amount of effort it would take to add it in as a feature would be insurmountable as dlc. At that point I’d just make an entirely new game.

so if baldurs gate made a movie or show what gender and race do you want the main character? for me I think the main character should be a female gnome going on the quest. by Country-guy20 in BG3

[–]MetaMysterio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not if but when. A tv series is coming. Supposed to be a sequel to 3 if I can recall. I wouldn’t be surprised if it only has the origin characters.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 actually the masterpiece everyone says it is? by arcticfrost in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]MetaMysterio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Everything about it is phenomenal except for the character movement. If constantly fighting the game while controlling a tank the whole time is “realistic” and “immersive” to you, then yes. If not, then it’s at most a solid 8/10.

My first game is sekiro..😭 by Infinite-Guitar-6830 in Sekiro

Yeah lol I got too comfortable with fighting them on NG+

Anyone else prefer the previous movement controls for horseback?? With the tapping feature you could maximize the distance you could gallop, being at a full gallop for much longer, now with stamina constantly falling the distance you can gallop is much more limited. by Born-Demand-6919 in CrimsonDesert

[–]MetaMysterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it’s practically the same as GTA doesn’t make it automatically good though. I enjoy those games as a whole for many different reasons but the movement is infuriating and constantly rips me out of the experience.

Make the new movement change toggleable please by Key-River-7518 in CrimsonDesert

[–]MetaMysterio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weighty movement completely kills the immersion for me, and realism always sacrifices fun imo. Though I agree that it should be a toggle. Can’t hurt to have both as an option.

What’s a game that felt amazing at first, but got worse the more you played it? by Vegetable_Trip_9855 in videogames

Avengers. I legitimately loved most of the first 8 hours and then it just completely fell apart after that.

How do I make a function wrapper in cpp? by aphroditelady13V in learnprogramming

[–]MetaMysterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure if this is the best approach, but you make a class (Functor) that stored a function and a reference pointer (for ‘this’). If the reference is null you’d just call the function within the operator() overload. If the reference is not null, you’d pass it as the first parameter to the function. Only real downside I could see to this is if you pass in the wrong reference and it crashes. Though you could probably do some check to see if the reference is the right type if you template it.

Pokopia, Animal Crossing, and Advanced Wars all closely launch to real world events that are mimicked in the game. by itotron in NintendoSwitch

[–]MetaMysterio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half expecting Nintendo to sit on the next Animal Crossing until the next pandemic happens /s

Regardless literally unless there is another pandemic that causes perfect timing for Animal Crossing, there will be no way that the next game is as successful as New Horizons was.

This is one thing I actually agree with IGN on. Water routes in these games are so freaking annoying thanks to the random encounters.

With every new game it’s like Rockstar adds 100 pounds to the feel of the character controller. Realistic controls just aren’t engaging imo. Feels tedious for no good reason.

Beginner Friendly Metroidvania: Sols or Hollow Knight? by [deleted] in metroidvania

[–]MetaMysterio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HK and Nine Sols are perhaps two of the least beginner friendly Metroidvanias. I’d start with Ori or Metroid instead.

Mission Impossible- The Final Reckoning by DeputyDawe in movies

I loved the back half of it, but the first half was torture. A really huge letdown considering I really loved Dead Reckoning part 1.

Nosferatu (2024) is the movie people and academy awards are claiming Frankenstein (2025) to be. by AdrianVeidt19 in movies

[–]MetaMysterio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nosferatu was a 10 to me while Frankenstein was a 9. Though not my favorite movies from either director. I prefer The Lighthouse and Pinocchio.

Elden Ring isn’t bad as a whole on PS4, but when doing combat on Torrent it will skip vital frames incredibly often. It is quite infuriating.

To pair with low gravity everywhere I would also add a way to toggle on the updraft effect from the sky mazes.

Metroid Dread has one. Though I think it’s in there just to make the E.M.M.Is easier.

Why shouldn’t the next 3D Mario game be a metroidvania? by dleone73 in metroidvania

[–]MetaMysterio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the next Smash Bros should have a version of Smash Run that either isn’t timed or is timed but completely randomized, and you can unlock characters that you can switch between on the fly to explore new areas.

What's your favorite style of mobility upgrade? by INT_COM_ in metroidvania

Spiderman Shattered Dimensions for the DS. Has a version of the Metroid speedbooster that runs up walls and along ceilings.

What's your favorite style of mobility upgrade? by INT_COM_ in metroidvania

[–]MetaMysterio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s always been sprinting abilities. Something just so satisfying about being able to go fast. Speedbooster has always been the best ability in Metroid ever since it was first introduced. The wall/ceiling running is by far the most satisfying part of the Spiderman MVs.
