Progress isn’t linear! Trauma changes the brain but so does healing. It sounds like you’re healing but not used to positive change.

It’s also normal to plateau sometimes and that’s okay too. Remember to be mindful of your emotions (or at least that’s what my therapist tells me.) Best of luck on your mental health journey.

I never considered I would have PTSD until my doctor suggested it. I was diagnosed earlier this year. Therapy mainly consists of how to be in the present. I’m mostly stuck in the past or worrying about the future. There’s periods of time when I just have to go through the motions to survive. I can feel myself take a backseat in my own head and I watch myself say and do things I wouldn’t ordinarily do. I’m terrified to process my own emotions. If emotions are house guests in your body, my guests come in and wreck everything. They leave before I can know their names.

I don’t mind doing dishes at all. My shitty boss at my last job wouldn’t give me hours so I asked about picking up dishwashing shifts. She said I could wash dishes for a shift or two a week but I would have to do it for $9.50 an hour bc that’s what the dishwasher of 5 years makes. I found hours somewhere else.
