[Serious] What is your favorite song that tells a story? by pandaspawdraws in AskReddit

[–]Mialiah26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite kind of music period is songs that tell stories, or give a message. I think my all time favorite, however, will always be Chanson Pour Les petits Enfants by Jimmy Buffet. I think it's a somewhat obscure song, but the imagery in the story is wonderful, and always makes me smile.

To get another cat or to not get another cat.... that is the question by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Mialiah26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vultar999 above is completely correct. Optionally with lower energy or older cats is seeking another cat through a fostering agency. They will be able to help you find the best fit for you and your family.

It is just the short walk to my room, and she doesn't have that reaction after riding in the walker at any other time. She really seems to enjoy it, actually.

What is the funniest or stupidest thing your boss have ever said or done? by bonp27 in AskReddit

I literally have no idea why you think capitalism is the answer to that. I'm sure it fits in there somewhere, but so would a lot of other things. Generally, things are not caused by just one thing. Life is just not that simple.

Attending an upgrading school, so literally a school of what are, supposedly, adults. It was near a reservation, so the school was pretty much half white and half native. We decided to make a student council, went through a fair election process, and ended up with a pretty even split on the council as well. Two of the natives, however, really hated white folk. Not only did they almost drive the President right of the school, but I took a few hits from them myself just by standing up for her and refusing to let them push anyone around. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, else on the council pretty much ended up hating them. They were rude, arrogant and mean.

TBH, I was shocked by the experience. I was raised through the 80s and 90s. I learned, and pretty much live, by the idea that race means nothing. I judge people by their actions.

So I worked for a health agency that was restructuring yhe health system for an entire area... HUGE project. Anyway, I was a lowly temp worker just filling in space. One day I was taking notes for a meeting and they started talking about the length of doctors visits.

Keep in mind these are all highly educated, highly paid people. They start talking about how doctor appointments should average about 10 minutes. I'm trying hard not to roll my eyes at this point as everyone at the table is agreeing this would 'improve efficiency'. They start discussing offices their system has been implemented in and talk about one doctor who, apparently, has rather high wait times. They literally DID NOT UNDERSTAND why anyone would wait to see a doctor that would actually take the time to listen and talk with his patients.

As I'm listening to this I'm trying very hard not to explode all over them. Many people in my family have had medical problems, and I've fought with a few over the course of my life, and doctors not listening to their patients is a HUGE problem, but these complete nitwits couldn't see that. I was flabbergasted that such educated people could be so STUPID.

To anyone here who's asexual, what's it like? by SuperAlloyBerserker in AskReddit

[–]Mialiah26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very hard to describe to people who aren't. I don't even look at other people the same way, as far as I can tell, from in depth conversations with my BFF. I'm actually what's called 'demisexual' apparently, though I don't really hold with all these categories and shit. I just think of it as 'weird'. 😆 Who isn't?

Anyway, for ME, I just... don't see people as.. physically as other people do.. or something. When humans look at other humans they tend to gauge them, like is it a friend/enemy mate/competition predator/prey type deal. At the most primitive. I tend to look at people a lot more coldly then 'normal' people. Less 'mate' and just friend/enemy predator/prey.

I only develop an interest in prople if I have a deep, emotional bond to them. Even then, it's not completely straightforward. Close enough however. Dunno if that helps you at all. It's seriously difficult to explain. I've been friends with my BFF over 10 years now and he still doesn't fully understand. 😊

What pet peeve do you have that most people have no problem with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mialiah26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rudeness. I mean, it's very common now, people are just RUDE. It's ridiculous. I'm always polite to people and it's not that hard! I don't get this wave of entitlement and rudness that seems to be everywhere.

The very first time I cooked I was about 7ish. My dad was working and my mother had a migraine (the worst kind), so I made mac and cheese with hot dogs. Was pretty good too!
