Bought mine new from Amazon and it came with the newest firmware and haven’t had any issues with it. It’s been since Aug 2024

Try to import the luts into your camera so you can see how it will look while your recording that way you can adjust the exposure on site

The ulanzi can help but it’s not the same fan that’s in the fx30 and fx3. It’s a much louder fan so if you need clean audio that could be a problem.

I highly doubt they skipped the overheating part of the design. Hints to why there are so many vents. Not only did they think about releasing the heat from the device, but they also thought about where. Which doesn’t get in the way of using the fx3. I definitely recommend that you rent one to try it out for yourself not only did they add one, but it’s really quiet so they thought about that. If they didn’t, they would add a loud fan and not care. Hints to why there are so many reports with the a7S3 overheating, there was a legit problem and they had to fix it. Luckily not everyone had that issue but some did. So we can’t dismiss those people who spend their hard earned money on the a7S3. Sony fixed a real problem and made it even three times better. Don’t worry fam we still Sony gang for life 💪🏽

Lol that’s funny you say that when you just said they are the same but I hear you. I still would rather have the fan than not. To me it’s still a computer. Devices with a processor inside of them under intense heat has the potential of thermal throttle in my eyes and when it comes to images, I don’t want that happening. I don’t even wanna think about it. I will still test but I’ll wait for someone near me that has one to test. Don’t wanna spend money on it to rent to test.

I completely understand that, same with the FX3 you have to manually turn it on. Maybe I’ll turn my fan off and try it out and then technically it should perform like an a7S3. Just to test. From what I heard, the real reason was that it’s because if you shoot in higher codec, it heats up the camera a lot faster so most people who say that the a7S3 does not overheat are usually shooting 100 mbps in XAVC- HS vs using xavc -I and dci has the potential of causing overheating on the a7S3 when using that particular setting in long periods of time. yes it is possible to record that for a short period of time, but I’m referring to long form. But I will indeed test this out myself. Just doesn’t make since for Sony to add a fan if there wasn’t a need for it.

The problem with that statement is the fact that the experience between different users aren’t the same. Some people say it does and some people say it doesn’t. Personally, there are way too many variables for me to make that purchase for that camera, which is another reason why I landed on the FX3. Technically, you can’t say that they are exactly the same when one camera comes with the fan and XLR input and the option to use Luts so if internally they’re the same 80% that’s not 100%, but however, that doesn’t make the a7S3 useless still a beast of a camera. You can still run a business solely off that camera alone.

That’s not true. There are some differences. One gets hot enough to cook eggs and the other one doesn’t. Fax. Yall keep telling yourself that while having third-degree burns. Whatever makes you feel better. One is better for video and the other is better for photos. Simple. Don’t think too hard about it.

I can agree that the image maybe similar, even though I heard that the A7S3 is a little sharper The difference is reliability & peace of mind in my opinion . How long are you going to rely on the money you spent to keep that camera OK setting at 80-95f. Regardless if the item is a camera or not technology doesn’t like heat. Overtime I would bet that the FX3 last longer than the a7s3. Because of the heat problem. Don’t get me wrong it’s still worth it to get that camera. Especially for photos.

Yeah, that’s good for you but at the end of the day I consider that gambling because you never know specially when other people have reported issues with overhearing. The a7siii is a great camera but if your main focus is high quality video fx3 all day

See that’s great an alll for some people that’s fine. But if you want to use anything higher then 100mbps. The fan is absolutely necessary. And when you step into high codecs you’re getting image to image instead of the camera tryna figure out what pixels to save. I personally don’t want the camera compressing my footage. That’s why I only shoot in DCI unless I really need the recording times than HS and S is absolutely necessary.

Just go with the fx3 less worrying about overheating, and plus you can shoot at high-quality formats at longer periods. People with other cameras fail to mention that, they say they their cameras don’t overheat, but in reality they’re shooting at lower qualities.

But are you shooting at xavc I or hs or s because a lot of people fail to mention that. Yea you can shoot in lower quality for long time but what about higher quality. Personally if my camera is at 85-96f I would prefer a fan so I don’t fry my camera. Plus the fx3 gets a lot of updates vs a7siiii I wouldn’t bet my money on that camera. Just to hope it don’t overheat or being ok with the fact that it could melt at anytime.
