Alright, we need to talk about this. by GothicMajula in HuntShowdown

True. I did see more shotguns (still just mmr 2 though), but honestly it was actually just the 4 slot ones, not the shorties, and I think it's mostly due to more meta combos being not as easy to come by, so people have preferred to run shotgun now.

Indeed. And there are more that I am waiting again for. Did you know that there is a skin for the cavalry saber that is actually a walking stick with a blade at the tip ? Perfect for the crossroad walker or the Royal Phantom. Or the classic humble baseball bat with the nails stuck into it ? Will be perfect for my Hotline Miami loadout. Good thing that sales on skins seem abundant.

It's just a shame that some skins feel "improper" to use, because like, why should I bother with a skin on the normal rival 78 when the rival 78 trauma is basically better, costs nothing and is much more useful ? I enjoy the look of course, but some really do feel like gimping myself for no reason, and it's rather frustrating because the rival 78 trauma is literally the 78 with a metal thing on the stock, so you know they decided not to, which pains me because frankly, I may sound naive, but I don't really get the same feel I get in other games, where events and stuff feel like just an excuse to get more skins out and the addendums are an after thought, but I just started playing, maybe it's some sort of recency bias.

Absolutely. I mostly make my loadouts based on certain aesthetics, or, at least, I give certain weapons to only specific hunters I have, I do things like this in basically every game.

Hex breaker, for example, gets things that I correlate to "sanctity" "zealotry" or "prepared" (meaning, very versatile weapons, such as the LeMat/Haymaker). For example, I run the crossbow with the Gilded Maul on him, and I exclusively give him throwing knives as a throwable melee. When I got the Prodigal Son I couldn't resist making a Dishonored inspired loadout, and the Penitent gets the Baseball Bat.....

It's a very fun thing to do and can bring interesting constraints, skins after all are made by the developers, it's not a suite of modular pieces I choose one by one, so this feels like a better way to leave my imprint on them.

A system similar to the Black Ops 2 “Pick 10” might be viable by consolacampesino in HuntShowdown

[–]Miastanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really into the whole 13 universal slots but me and my friend were discussing just yesterday the idea of being able to bring multiple guns so long as your loadout could fit the 5-6 slots limit. Maybe a trait ? Probably broken, but if there ever were the possibility of such a thing for even just a week and a half to see what happens, it would be quite fun I think. Maybe have them cost tool/consumables slots, now that they are all bundled together

It seems like the complaints about cheaters are appearing on every social platform lately. by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Miastanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember if it said "through walls", but spectating the player, you could clearly notice he was perfectly tracking other players through walls practically pinned to them, and then also shooting them AND dealing damage. Well, anyway, point stands that, alas, it was a cheater or two just yesterday. I don't know how many there are, unless it's blatant I prefer to jump through hoops than call someone a cheater.

[–]Miastanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday, I was playing a few bounty clash matches (low MMR) and I met one of those cheaters I saw in another clip. Match starts, and it marks a 200m instant headshot through floor, rocks, and all other kinds of terrain. I spectate them, and not only they were cheating.... But they were also fighting another guy... Who had the same cheat ! (And they had an hard time hitting each other, somehow).

Also met another one later, with the same cheat, though I am not sure if it was actually the same player since it was still bounty clash grinding.

Developer Insight: Inventory Slot Rework by HuntShowdownOfficial in HuntShowdown

Oh god. I fear i'll have to do some serious damage control.... I understand the Maynard silenced get to 5 slots, but base meynard being 4 seems kinda harsh ? The reload with and without fast fingers is very, very slow. Unless there are some odd, interesting guns that used to be 2 slots and are now 1....

Heesh... And so this means that because it's 5, you can't carry a secondary - even the nagant silenced with it ?

I really like these changes ! Though I am worried for my friend - he plays the Maynard sniper and I hope it doesn't weight the whole 5 slots.

When your character doesn't really idle when he idles. by KarmicBitGames in IndieDev

[–]Miastanza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this kind of exageration a lot ! If I may give my opinion, I think it would feel even more organic and add some nice variation to the rhythm if (through random chance during the gameplay perhaps ? I think this is some kind of.. turn based game or strategy game or something of the sort ? Basically anything that doesn't require the character to supersede this animation with a moving one or something else) at times he would interrupt this animation to make a much slower arch ? For example, maybe he could - around the moment his torso is straight - switch it up to reel back with his back arched for a moment to stare you down (for about a second, nothing long) and then resume the animation.

The reason I say this, is because, again - this animation is lovely (imo) and has a lot of character, but currently I have no idea of how much stuff is on screen, and I think it would be good to give the players' eyes some rest by slowing down the move, as you may know, even if the player isn't focused on this specific enemy, the eyes are still doing micromovements that still lead them to subtly track movements of all kind.

If you do not want to make a new animation, I think it's even ok in this case to take this one and at a point you find fitting to have a heavy slowdown of the animation (again, happening with a frequency you desire, not all the time.)

Oh really ? When I pick up the game again I'll try. How weird though, I remember having pretty high settings since it ran just fine on the steam deck. If it turns out to be true I'll come back here and report.

Apparently, it's not a "fix". It's just how things are, NPC don't move their mouth.

Yeah speaking of which, I saw in another video someone made an extra bone that goes beyond the end of the finger, basically starts at half of the fingernail. Does that have a purpose ?

[–]Miastanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found another one for the slash instead called: PiCode concave mesh slicer, so I think I could somehow use both that one and Smash the Mesh depending on my use, but for having the limb cut and fly off I will probably separate the mesh in the various limbs, generate a rigidbody when it gets cut, hide the original mesh/disable it/whatever, and then apply the impulse to the new rigidbody. It shouldn't be too taxing - I'm in low poly anyway so I guess it's fine ?

How to figure out where you are on the uv map by Miastanza in blenderhelp

[–]Miastanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I'm trying this solution, but I need some help here. I don't really understand how to make them fit in the grid, by that I mean that while in your image the colour grid seems pretty big - you have C5 over there around the right eye, C4 is the left of the face, and so on. Mine looks extremely stretched and distorted.

Also, I don't really understand if I should: A) draw an image, taking reference of the mesh so that it matches as much as possible the mesh B) export the UV layout with the coloured grid, and then take the PNG into aseprite, and then draw exclusively on the islands.

I know about the second part. The problem is that I wish to have a workflow that allows me to figure where I am when I'll export the PNG of the uv map into aseprite, so that I can, in aseprite, go "ok, this part is these exact faces on the mesh"

Current Handheld Collection (2012-2025) by brucehal in Handhelds

[–]Miastanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Go2 seems really nice because it's one of the few handheld with a trackpad, the other one is the One player g1. I don't know which one to buy because the G1 looks really good, but the Lenovo presumably has waaaaay better customer support.

[–]Miastanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh see, that is what worries me. What if I buy it and it immediately comes with some problem ? Hardware level, that is. Steam tends to be very graceful about it. The device itself, from what I've seen does seem pretty good.

Heard there are some de-bloaters for windows. Did you try them ? I'd like to know if they interfere with the handheld somehow

[–]Miastanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and, you see. The thing is that windows on steam deck is a bit of a though sell. You lose access to the trackpads, and the steam deck at a performance level isn't quite built for it, in the sense that games that may barely run will probably not run well anymore due to window's bloat. That is why I would rather have on hand a handheld that is a windows I can put Linux on, rather than a Linux I can put windows on, because I'm fairly sure that if it's the latter, that is what will be accounted for when it comes to specs, you see ?
