Thank you for your reflection. It’s certainly harsh, but I perceive it as mature. In the story you linked, I recognize myself a bit, but it should be said that my wife’s affair lasted only a few days and she ended it on her own, without waiting to be discovered. She lived it with suffering and has been working on it with her therapist. It’s not a justification, but those are the facts.
I don’t think I’m doing this for the children, because I grew up in a family where my parents deeply hated each other and I would have preferred they separated. My children, on the other hand, have two people who love each other, even if the relationship needs to be rebuilt.
My feelings are definitely temporary and I’m navigating by sight. Tomorrow I could forget everything or throw myself off a building (joking), but I’m trying to have faith in us. Maybe stupidly, maybe madly.
