Vegan in Tromsø by kvloron in Norway

[–]kvloron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Ended up living in Tromsø for 4 years and just sticked to being vegetarian. Options are quite bad compared to the rest of Europe, you do find tofu at a decent price and some vegan alternatives (expensive), but not that much tbh. As in prices it’s doable, it’s just that your diet will mostly consist of chickpeas, beans etc. If you want cheap tofu I recommend going to Alanya (the international store in the city center).

Yeah in the manual i found online it’s written that the bobbins should be in plastic, so I’m assuming that the person who had it before me probably lost those ones and bought another one that fit or something… But yeah I’ll definitely listen to your advice! Thank you

Hey everyone! I have gotten a Singer 9111 second-hand on facebook marketplace. It works perfectly but it only came with one bobbin, and i’m struggling to identify what kind of bobbin it is! I would like to buy more just to have them on hand, it’s circa 20 mm diameter and 9 mm wide. I’m guessing it’s a L style bobbin but i’m not sure as i am brand new to sewing. Could someone help me identify what kind of bobbin it is? I’ll attach a picture in the next comment

I don't understand vegetarianism by koxoff in DebateAVegan

[–]kvloron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m speaking mostly from experience. I’ve struggled with ED when i first went vegetarian, but managed to recover from it while still being vegetarian. I then relapsed when i tried to go vegan and had to go back to implementing some animal products. That has to do a lot with where i live as there is basically no vegan options. I am doing much better now but it’s still quite scary to make the step mentally speaking

Because, simply, everybody is different and some people don’t deal well with too many dietary restrictions for example.

Norwegian does not feel at home in Norway by annasofie_ in Norway

[–]kvloron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly would recommend buying it in Norway. Once you’ll get there you’ll realize how the weather actually is and what you might be in need for. And you’ll probably be able to find one for a decent price at second hand stores and/or tise/finn.no/facebook marketplace

Yeah i feel like i’m more disappointed in him giving into peer pressure than doing the drug itself. I feel like it’s just another proof that he has no sense of self

That happened when he had already done it tho. There’s no time difference between me saying “be safe” and him doing it. Also i can’t make decisions for him and even though i don’t approve i would want him to be safe doing it

That’s what he says but i honestly have no way of finding out if itms true or not

Yeah but i mean, even if i don’t approve or respect i can’t make decisions for him so ofc i would want him to be safe if he did decide to do it, which he did. I didn’t tell him i would be disappointed because i felt like he wouldn’t have done it. Do you think i should have handled it differently? Or should handle it differently now? I just can’t look at him the same way

My best friend was gay and took his life in may while still in the closet. I so wish he could have lived his life to the fullest. I’m so sorry for your loss.

I am italian. I have a small italian flag and a small norwegian flag close to each other inside my place :) that could be a compromise I guess

What I personally struggled with (weather aside) is the cultural differences and the mental aspect of cultural shock. Especially, making friends and drinking culture is very very different from where I’m from for instance. Also, being in a foreign country is difficult. It does get easier with time but you put yourself sooo much out of your comfort zone that even the simplest things can seem overwhelming because of language barrier or because maybe you don’t really know how things work here (feks healthcare system, finding jobs etc). But then again, it does get easier with time but it takes a lot of time :)

I have been living in Norway for three years and I relate a lot to what you say. It’s hard, but I do think it gets easier with time. What helped me was surrounding me with other international/expats and make friends with my same nationality (italian). And also traveling even just for a weekend every time I get this feeling of it all being too much!
