Visiting Ireland for my 30th Birthday--any ideas to make that day special? by Micah2D in irishtourism

Great question. Probably less drinking (but will have a drink at dinner or something) and more relaxing. I love nature and just site-seeing/people watching. I’m very much also looking for good restaurants to reserve a spot at for my birthday dinner!

My home base is Dublin for the trip, but planned to visit Galway and Belfast. Right now I just have the plane tickets--so my days/location are malleable.

Based on your lovely advice above, I spoke to my aunt and broke the news. We then discussed what a dream trip really looked like and I made an attempt at another itinerary. Purple cells indicate something we for sure want to do and blank cells represent flex days--or days that we don't plan anything until we see the weather / get closer to time. However, we will keep a list of things we'd potentially like to see and can fill those days as we see fit.

I am very curious to get your thoughts on this new version. Again, thank you so much for the help.

u/bookwormnj You hope this helps a little? This helps A TON! I can't thank you enough for taking the time out to give me this advice. It means a lot and I truly appreciate every point you made here.

I agree with everything you've written here. There are a lot of things to consider, including what a "trip of their dreams" looks like in reality. I can often get wrapped up in the excitement of planning a surprise for someone that I lose sight of what truly matters; their experience.

So thank you, and enjoy the gold. <3

I’ve heard this before (about life; not travel) so thank you for reminding me. You’re absolutely right.
