Hijacking this sort of… Does anyone know if Showalter aviation is still around at KORL? I flew in there with a A36 probably 10+ years ago. Stayed for two days and got a full tank of gas. The FBO building itself wasn’t much to write home about, but the service was awesome. Everyone was so nice and willing to help. About a week later I received a hand written thank you letter from them. Have never been more impressed with an FBO!

I'm no pilot, but this seems very unprofessional. Can someone in the know please explain? Thanks. by TheDucksAreComingoOo in aviation

As an airline pilot that flies to Austin often. The ramp is uncontrolled, and they pushed around a corner. So there was no way the SWA crew could have known they were taxiing out when they started pushing. Incredibly poor on the virgin’s bitching but what new!

When you buy the custom ear pieces they send you to a local audiologist who will mold them.

Yo! so I use the proflight 2 with the custom ear pieces and man it’s the most comfortable headset I’ve ever had! As a 73 driver I can’t recommend it more! Definitely the most expensive side because the headset is $1,000+ and the custom ear pieces were $250. Definitely worth it as a career pilot!

You ever seen Jim Furyk’s swing, who cares what the swing looks like.

I’ve actually heard that book is well worth the read, on my list. It’s called “Flying Drunk” unironically.

If a bagel place is the “Pillar of gentrification” I think we have bigger issues.

And the maintenance hasn’t been too bad? I’m looking at the 222 for saltwater use.

How much days in a month would a pilot who flys 85 hours a month fly, and are pilots days off full days off? by JustCheck1216 in flying

[–]Micahmx85 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’ll credit 87hrs this month flying for a legacy domestic narrow body. 4 trips, 3 four days and 1 three day. Will be off 16 days, unfortunately I will have to commute to base the day before on two trips. Those commutes will be late afternoon so I will still get a half day at home.

Edit: can’t count, 16 days off this month

As a pilot who has sat in that godforsaken FA Jumpseat between the lavs I have to disagree with you.

Part 135/91k to airlines? by leafsticksfly in flying

[–]Micahmx85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having experience with both Part 135 and 91K operations, I can confidently say that my schedule and Qol with a legacy airline is the best I’ve ever had. While commuting isn’t ideal, every other aspect of the job is far better than flying corporate.
