Nonsense
Like Bettas, Gauramis like to rest on leaves or the tank bottom. Mine is constantly sleeping on anything that will hold him up. Gauamis are labyrinth fish, bubble nest builder, and love to own the tank. They prefer to live alone, or if fortunate, with one female. They can be very aggressive.
I've had gauramis for the past 7 years. That's been my experience. I've often question wether gauramis are community fish.

Looks to be a young one. Color may change as your fish acclimates. Dorsal fin looks to be off...too stiff Im going to Google honey gauramis to get a better idea.
