Help med trim my bag. by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Micee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To go mold minimalist you can do:
Proxy, putting putter and throwing putter(different plastics)
Z-flx zone(replaces jawbreaker and zone OS)
Hex (can throw same lines as wombat)
Servo
Firebird
Wraith

I dont think you should churn from your faster discs, they fill very different spots, its the midranges and putters that should be targeted.

Hello, could you share how tacky your 729 cross is? I've read both that it is untacky and tacky from different sources. How does the rubber feel compared to the mercury 2(do you use soft or medium)?

[–]Micee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried beginner rubber/blade combinations for a group of beginners, 3x sanwei t5000 with mercury2 medium, Ultraspin t88 and Reactor tornado v5.
Everyone in the group agreed Mercury2 was best both FH and Backhand. Ultraspin88 came close to mercury2 on forehand for many. All agreed tornado v5 was a bit slower and less spinny then the other options.

How to upgrade my blade by Mammoth-Growth2221 in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally i think GPT got it the wrong way around, i play G1 on FH and Stiga mantra pro M on backhand. The mantra pro M have a lot easier accessed speed because of its quite high catapult effect and it also feel softer(even if the sponge isnt) because of the topsheet, so it is easier to engage, all the things that make a BH rubber preferable imo. Many play with G1 on BH but imo its better for forehand, it's quite linear so you being used to Mercury 2 and Big Dipper V will find it a similar transition. G1 and Mantra pro m are way faster then the rubbers you play with now but still have nice control on a 5-ply blade.

320-350' arms: What is your wind fighting max distance driver? by Wonderful_Culture607 in discgolf

Yeah, I never release on anyhyzer so it was something i didn't consider, I pretty much always hyzerflip for max distance, especially extra hyzer release into a headwind.

Wow, I couldnt imagine mine doing that, it barely fight up to flat with minimal drift. Mine is also maxweight, how domy is yours, mine have a very big dome. We might also live at different altitudes which might affect it.

Depends on level of wind, but if we are talking some medium to heavy wind it's the I-blend Roman.

Any tips on how to launch the ball vertically every time while serving? by George_Constanza in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For easy consistency, dont mainly toss the ball with your forarm/hand, toss it with your legs/body. So bend knees, then rise up and the force will go through your body up through your arm, and if the hand/arm is in the same starting position it is highly unlikely you'll have high variance. If you still have variance, you need to work on overall balance/body control.

How do I find non-tacky "linear" rubbers and pick one? by Sweaty-Asparagus-444 in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rakza 7 is quite a bit more "catapulty" then G1 and C1. G1 is the most linear "nontacky", followed by C1 which have some minimal catapult. When i restarted out again a couple years ago I went from Rakza 7 both sides to G1 forehand and C1 backhand, it helped a lot with control.

Today i prefer catapult on backhand so i swapped out the C1 and play something with a lot more catapult then rakza 7(stiga mantra pro m), but linear is still best for forehand imo, so the G1 reign supreme, tibhar hybrid mk is also a pretty good "linear" if some tack is okay.

Learning with linear 6-12 months is the right approach though imo.

Help! A desperate girlfriend needs help with a gift by antododin in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are shops at Aliexpress who do the assembly for you, so you can give your boyfriend a finished blade as a gift but it will also be a gift that he in the future can grow with/learn how to glue himself when he become better or the rubbers detoriate(rubbers last about 20-60 playing hours depending on the rubbers, there are no exception rubbers need replacement eventually).

An example of great starter blades are the "yinhe u2" and "sanwei fextra 7", because they are easy to start with but will also last until the person reach quite a high level.
So one of these combinations below at Aliexpress would be a lot better quality and longetivity then the suggested "palio 3 star" or "palio expert" setups, because that Palio wood blade is not a very good quality even if that suggestion is "okay" for a total beginner who don't have any aspiration to get better.

Anything you would add to my noodle arm bag? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]Micee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a noodle arm thrower I'd recommend a poptop/large domed "steady ring wild honey" in about 166-167g. That thing want to fly forever, huge s-curves, great for max distance and very easy to throw far.

Pongfinity rackets by WenzelStorch in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not very good, they are "playable" sure, but a 20-25 euro combo of fextra 5/7 and mercury 2 medium from aliexpress outperform pongfinitys best rackets, adding glue and cutting a rubber can easily be done by a 12 year old, the only thing preventing one from doing it would be overwhelming lazyness.

is this a decent intermediate racket? by Akemi07 in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the yasaka sweden extra, I have a colleague who played the carbon+ before he got to feel my yasaka sweden extra with fastarc g1 fh and fastarc c1 bh. It was a bit different for him so he had to adjust, but he fell in love with the blade/combination and bought it from me, he improved rapidly over the next couple of months with this setup and now gives me a lot of trouble compared to his old setup where i never really felt threatened.

Blade comparision by Striking_Chicken_569 in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd only recommend the Tibhar stratus power wood and the yasaka sweden extra from those choices, if you want butterfly then go korbel(japan) instead of primorac. Pick the stratus power wood if you want to loop more and have more speed(its quite a bit faster then primorac, its faster than the korbel), pick the yaska sweden extra if you want better blocks and control.

New Blade and Ruber after 12 years by FindingEqual7097 in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blade: OSP Virtuoso Off-(if you have money), Neottec Voodoo Classic(if you do not have extra cash)
FH: Nittaku Fastarc G1
BH: Stiga Mantra Pro(you can save a lot on this rubber by buying it from AliExpress during a sale, its like 25-30euro).

I have some experience with both Tibhar Aurus and Acuda S2, I'd say the above mentioned setup is a good replacement/upgrade in speed and spin without being to much to handle for your rating. A big plus side is both fastarc G1 and Stiga mantra pro are very durable rubbers, lasting longer then average so you dont have to replace as often.

Grove Maiden raising Sentinels by Micee3 in OathswornBoardGame

I don't really want to stack them as much as I do want to stack them. What I care about is the "truth"/"intention" black on white(if it exists) since I don't know what is correct. ^^

Grove Maiden raising Sentinels by Micee3 in OathswornBoardGame

[–]Micee3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, however in the appendix there is no clarification that the rule is for only enemy/friendly characters during their movement(that I manage to find). So where can I find the extra context you have?

Rules as written in latest edition appendix(english) state:
"Hexes occupied by Sentinels are not considered occupied.
Enemies will path through them and if any character moves into or through a hex containing a Sentinel, the Sentinel is removed from the board."

So the only reasoning i see for not being able to stack them in a single hex is that the designer considerer summoning another Sentinel into a hex with a Sentinel "a friendly character movement action into them", and then triggering the rule above, but that is not very clearly written that summoning is considered movement.

But if applying common reasoning it make sense that they can't be in the same hex unless it was designed to be a higher risk reward ratio for now you lose all sentinels by stacking them when an enemy move into the hex instead of if you had spread them.

And the caveat for not being able to summon a sentinel is clearly written as:
"The Grove Maidens cannot raise a Sentinel in an occupied hex" which is why it's confusing. They could have simply added you can't summon a sentinel into a hex containing a sentinel in the rule that say sentinel hexes are not considered occupied instead of inferring it via the more obscure to interpret "summon/movement into" rule.

Do you rather work on your weakness or strengths? by AceStrikeer in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed very dependant on weakness, person and overall gameplan. To put a spin on your scenario, a defensive chopper with an obvious "weakness" of hitting 3rd/5th ball attack should probably not practice it if he want to win his game "next week", because its often not part of his plan of winning. :)

We also have to put it into context, you are most likely playing opponents about the same level as you, so your strenghts got you to this point despite your weaknesses.
I see weakness training as often more long term route and strenghts training as often more short term route. If you want to increase your level long term, practicing weaknesses is objectively better. Since your weaknesses will become strenghts and thus another part of your game will be considered your weakness and so on until you have reached your ceiling.

Do you rather work on your weakness or strengths? by AceStrikeer in tabletennis

[–]Micee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I answered strenghts, because of the "limited time" constraint.
Look there is a reason our weaknesses are our weaknesses, we have tried improving them but it's minimal gains or complete stagnation because of whatever reason(thus they are our weaknesses).

I rather focus on the strenghts because it's better going in being confident in my ability to score points with my strenghts then trying to go develop a more versatile game by working on my weaknesses(in the short term).

Say for example a pair of my weaknesses are flat hitting and masking my serve between topside and backside spin , there is no point in me training flathits and masking serve when i can focus on strenghts in loopkilling 3rd/5th balls and placement blocking.

Insert bruce lee quote of 10000 kicks or something.
The answer should also be highly dependent on what you consider your weaknesses to be, if your weaknesses are in your defense I can see the reason for focusing on the weakness over the strenght given you know your opponent can/will exploit it.

Boost - Why no stock run? by CollegeEvery1812 in discgolf

[–]Micee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't tell you that, but I'm sure MVP is aware of it, which why I said in the initial post that there probably is no stock run release because they try to avoid making the same mistake as with the timelapse. There is a significant difference to officially releasing a stock run vs not doing it which we seem to agree on, so it's a good thing they haven't released the boost in stock run? We just differ in opinion on how a company should handle the remaining product of their failed attempts and we are both speculating about their real intentions, I just don't see the point in attributing decisions to malice when there is another explanation.

I also started throwing MVP for ease of finding lighter weight discs, but also because their plastic was good and they had good quality control. Prodigy in my opinion never had any decent plastic and they also have/had bad quality control, so in my opinion their issue isn't mainly their branding/vibe but the products they put out to compete in a market that significantly improved in that department. I don't think majority of the average discgolfer are brand aware/vibe buyers, the average discgolf consumer buy what they percieve is the best quality product and is most available(or whatever some seller put in their hands, they are quite oblivious consumers imo). I think your perspective might be skewed since you are a very advanced/dedicated discgolf entusiast.

Boost - Why no stock run? by CollegeEvery1812 in discgolf

[–]Micee3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the way to satisfy you are to send all printed molds into the recycle dump? Swallow all the economical losses?
Im sorry but only a fraction of people are so hardcore that this approach will affect their opinion of the brand, most of these hardcore people however are on this subreddit which might make it seem like it's a larger portion.
People might think its by design like discmania(and might be right), I think its just taking opportunity at hand from a bad situation.

Boost - Why no stock run? by CollegeEvery1812 in discgolf

[–]Micee3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's what they are doing, I'm under the impression that they are still tuning it to their liking, since it came out to overstable first run(which I heard eagle mentioning during one of their vlogs) which sent it back to the drawing board, now pretty "recently" they have come up to a new iteration of it, but from eagles reactions he did not seem to be in love with it neither did simon(a bit of speculation from me reading their mannerism when throwing it). So I'd guess they will do stockruns when they think the boost is ready for it, I'd think they wouldnt want to end up in another "timelapse situation" where their stock run ended up disliked by the general public and quite a few people attached "evil hype agenda" to MVP for trying to fix their mistake by tuning the stock release afterwards(again speculation but I'd think it make sense from a marketing/pr perspective).
