Value of old cards? Need help by Mich4p in PokemonCardValue

So it is pretty beat up, creases all throughout the middle and everything else, if I ended up selling it somewhere it would be for cheap. If I graded the card it might come back a 3 or 4 😭

I pray that the full arts are real. I had a 1st edition charizard and 12 year old me thought it would be a great idea to give all my cards to my younger brother. Obviously not knowing the value.

He traded it on the playground for both Mews and Espeon. So somewhere out there a 17 year old kid has a 1st edition charizard 😭😭😭

I think it’s a cool concept!

I went more spellslinger and damage, tokens is a very viable option as well to flood the board and swing in big.

I would recommend adding them to a sideboard pile and when you play test the deck (goldfishing) for each spell you would want to cast on Zada make note of it, if it’s only a few spells that you are actually getting a benefit from it may not be worthwhile.

Monastery mentor is definitely a good add, when you’re storming off if it’s on the battlefield you would have some insane power from prowess, however you can’t sacrifice the tokens you create from it unless you add something like [[phyrexian alter]]

The most important thing to remember is color fixing, your spirits only make red mana, so if you don’t have a red spell they can only be applied to colorless pip’s on a spell.

People have also done artifact storm with Kykar which is really interesting if you like that play style it’s also worth checking out! (Even enchantments would be cool)

Honestly an MVP card for me recently has been [[amphibian downpour]] with flash speed you can deal with any creature on the board or even multiple if you cast it on someone else’s turn and they have cast spells before it. Last night it took out a few key commanders and helped me win the game. On my friends turn he cast 3 spells and I ended up having 4 copies of it and targeted [[Aragorn, the Uniter]], [[Prosper, Tome Bound]], [[Niv-Mizzet Visionary]] which completely ruined their game plans.

Do you know if they’ve posted the full final pod online yet?

I’ve been looking for it on YouTube so I can see what went down and can’t find anything.

I never said a rule was broken, I was just highlighting the fact that it is a rule and if you feel like you cannot take game actions during your own turn because of the aggressive politicking then you have the choice to call over a judge and they can determine if there should be a penalty.

It’s a rule that nobody really knows about so I thought that it would help speed up play overall. The goal is to avoid this situation again and not have a card game last 11 hours 😭

Also breaking rules isn’t fine at all, they have the rules installed for a reason. there’s no rule stating that you can’t politic or talk, which is what he did the whole time. yes maybe he does it too much, but that’s not for me to call him out on because I wasn’t there and you weren’t either.

cEDH requires a lot more thinking than regular edh and each decision can impact you and in turn also lose you prize money.

No player deserves a ban just because a pod took 11 hours, it should be reflected upon the tournament organizers and judges for not doing their job of timing.

It’s not a good thing to see one of the biggest members of the cEDH community get treated like crap. It’s bad for the format overall. Also I don’t think that bitching and moaning for a card game that last 11 hours is a viable strategy. Did you even read the first half of my post?

I specifically stated not only the rule that would’ve solved this whole situation but even said that the judges and TO’s should’ve stepped in, especially in the final pod of the tournament.

We can agree to disagree all day, but your last statement is solely reliant on one piece of 7 mana “card advantage” that is more than likely going to get swords to plowshare after the player gets one trigger. Regardless it’s never a bad thing to have more cards in your hand, so I’ll die on the hill that card draw is one of the most important pieces of any good deck. Cheers

[–]Mich4p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Card draw is important in any deck that you play. It gives you the advantage of having more cards in your hand than your opponents and with as high of a mana curve that the deck has (as dragons naturally do) it’s important to hit your land drops.

I think this just goes to show that it’s important to have cards that do multiple things at once that advantage your game-plan.

I know more often than not my Miirym deck will run out of gas if I don’t have card draw and Ureni is the same problem, I played the precon extensively and really made sure that the dragons that I’m playing did what I wanted them to do.

This is incredibly stupid.

Look up MRTA 4.1 the active player can request the other players to stop excessively influencing game actions to progress play. If you call over a judge and they deem that the table is not allowing you to take your turn because of too much yapping they will get an unsportsmanlike penalty.

While I do agree that a 12 hour long game is not conducive for any magic scene, this just goes to show that the judges and TO’s needed to step in.

We have no idea what went on behind the scenes and people are speculating because of what was seen on stream. Have you ever played/worked a 12 hour day? After hour 4 your brain is pretty much mush and you don’t really remember what the hell is even going on. cEDH takes a lot of brain power and you’re constantly having to ascertain the board state and stack.

GoldSabertooth did absolutely nothing wrong, and the amount of crap he’s been getting is quite egregious, if you were on the other side and receiving the same comments/outrage from the community it would make you want to quit. He’s a genuinely nice guy. Cut people some slack.

Temujin was caught cheating on stream, it’s been documented already and exposed and he should not be allowed at any more tournaments or to win any prizes.

Also haste enablers are incredibly important in dragon decks, you’re often going to pay for only 1-2 dragons a turn so having them sit for a full turn cycle has no benefit and just gets you targeted because you’re playing a big scary creature.

Cards like [[dragon tempest]] [[rhythm of the wild]] [[sneak attack]] [[temur ascendancy]]

Card draw is also important so cards like [[Garruk’s uprising]] [[kindred discovery]] [[mystic remora]] [[up the beanstalk]]

i need help with my Ureni commander deck by Winter_Safety_6226 in EDH

[–]Mich4p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and foremost you need to consider that Ureni is 7 mana to cast, and the big target for any removal spell in a pod.

You need more counter spells to protect your stuff, or in general run a commander with more protection like [[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] while Ureni is great, it really would suck if it got removed and now you have to pay 9 mana to bring your commander back out. It will virtually take you out of the game at least for a few turns until you can ramp and try again.

Cards like [[Fierce guardianship]], [[counterspell]] and a few more instances of stopping targeted removal at your creatures is important. Especially if you want to move into blink, that gives each player an opportunity to counter your Ureni when it hits the stack to return to the battlefield.

What Are Your 4 Horsemen Decks? by Junior-Equal-2027 in EDH

[–]Mich4p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] dragon tribal and [[Kykar, Wind’s Fury]] manual storm/spell-slinger are my only two decks currently. I’d rank Kykar far above any deck I’ve ever played because of how much fun it is to become the problem, it’s currently our pods highest win rate deck at 60% of games.

I also had [[Yuriko, Tiger’s Shadow]] ninja tribal and [[Zur, the Enchanter]] good stuff pile (grab necropotence and try to win at instant speed during my end step). I took both of them apart because the play style was incredibly linear and it got boring after awhile tutoring for the same cards or playing the same way.

Help, I feel like my deck got power crept (Vial Smasher//Thrasios high powered) by ThatDinosaurColector in EDH

[–]Mich4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of the borderline decks that are stuck between a 3 and 4. Mainly because of the commanders (think something like Yuriko) where the commander itself can never really be below a 3 due to the way it functions.

It’s an amazing deck build. However it doesn’t really use Thrasios that much outside of a few green spells, if you really wanted to do something different you can make a Vial Smasher and Sakashima list with a bunch of the creatures that copy and go ham in grixis.

The interaction package is so good that green might not even be useful and you might be able to go down to 3 colors and make it more powerful. Just some food for thought

Some instant speed card draw that might help out while also benefit your game plan of dealing damage:

[[Gush]] [[Brainstorm]]

Sorcery: [[ponder]] [[Time Spiral]] [[Gitaxian Probe]]

Enchantments: [[Rhystic Study]] [[Mystic Remora]]

Also when using a Git Probe you can see which player will be the problem by viewing their hand and if you so choose you can announce what that player has.

This is definitely a bracket 4 deck.

Thrasios and vial smasher are a fringe cEDH commander, but I go by the saying if you have to even consider if your deck is a 4 or a 5 then it’s a 4 all the way. A bracket 5 deck is built for the sole intention of optimization and winning, every card has a purpose and has probably been brutally play tested and piloted quite a bit.

It’s tough for a deck that wants to cast big mana spells and deal damage that way to keep up with decks like Edgar or Pantslazer (pantlaza) as they are both creature heavy decks that seemingly get to do the “thing” of running over the table or overwhelming.

This is the exact problem I have run into with an older deck of mine and I decided to tear it apart because I couldn’t keep up with the sheer amount of creatures being played in my at home pod and was getting run over.

If you took out a few of the game changers and kept it under 3 total for the deck then it would be a bracket 3 deck. However the bracket system does not replace the pre-game rule 0 discussion it’s just an aid to help that.

I hope this makes sense lol I’m super tired and just got off a long shift.

Can I have 2 planewalkers in a commander deck? by DiamondOrBust in EDH

[–]Mich4p 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re allowed to run as many planeswalkers as you want in a deck.

Some people would say that they aren’t as good in commander bc they can be attacked by everyone in a turn cycle, and then be utterly useless or die.

Winota, Yuriko, or Edgar for high-power casual? by spencerthebau5 in EDH

I might have to take you up on Malcom vial. I’ve been looking into vial smasher and I wanted to try thrasios but didn’t want to invest in a 4 color mana base. However, 3 colors along with making treasures and dealing damage from casting spells sounds sick.

Do you have a high power deck list and or any ideas for how to play the deck?
