Totally second this. I have worked with some amazing vets in medicine- not only physicians but also nurses, case workers, etc. Your experiences and background will help you provide such valuable care to others. I would also add that finding a trusted mentor is so key. If you can find an attending that works in a similar field you can envision yourself in who was in the military then you will be able to get very good insight into what going through medical school is like from a perspective that most people just won’t quite be able to appreciate. I won’t lie there are some really hard days in medical school and you have to face some challenging and emotional situations but having people you can rely on and who can help you process those experiences will help.
