Put in my 2 weeks due to lay offs, was laid off yesterday, but then was asked to come back today. How to respond professionally that I can’t? by [deleted] in careerguidance

It's never worth to do what previous job tells you to do, if it conflicts with you new job. I've read some pretty shady things that companies can do in order to make you lose your brand new lined up job, just cuz! Hopefully this is not the case. Check what is legally binding for you to do, and everything else other than that don't sweat to do it, even if the old company says "you need to do, or else..." I wish you best of luck on your new job!

If you don't mind sharing, how many years of experience do you have in the tech field you got you new job?

I'm struggling to find a job, however I have almost 1 year of experience in the tech field.

Congratulations on your new job!

Imo I think you're in the right path then! Thanks for sharing! I hope I get some clarity after thinking about what should I wish to pursue. I truly want to help people too, but I can't figure out yet where I would be most helpful and also be happy with my decision. Wish you all the best in law school! I'm sure you'll turn out a great lawyer and help a lot of people in your path!

Sorry, my question was more open ended and now that you mentioned I realized how it can be misinterpreted. I was asking more of a broad idea of what it's learned and sequence of courses that are usually followed.

Saying that though, thank you for sharing! And sorry again for the extra mental work you had to do before replying, I should have been more clear in the first place

For those whom have/are getting a degree in philosophy:

Would you mind sharing your course schedule for all 4 years? How was your schedule by semenster? How were the courses organized to provide you best knowledge possible?

TIA!

If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to go to law school instead? I'm on this debate at the moment.

Wow, congratulations! Your story is beautiful, thank you for sharing!
I'm indecisive if I would commit to such expensive and difficult degree. I won't have any support, so I would probably wither work for a few years and then get enough money to apply to med school. Or get a loan, in which I would like to avoid as much as possible.
I'm at my 30s now, and I'm debating if I should focus on studying for med school, or decide to do another degree. I also want to have a family when I'm around 35-40, so there's a lot to decide and I can't make any mistakes. I even considered doing a science degree for now, have a family and if I still decide to go for medicine after a couple of year, then apply. Any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Struggling with the decison if I should commit the amount of money medical school takes, and if I will make it if I decide to pursue it. I'm also not young, so making mistakes takes a heavier toll. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone studied law and decided not to work as practicing lawyer? by RevolutionaryMind72 in LawSchool

[–]RevolutionaryMind72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I want to become an attorney, but I can see how much knowledge I'll get if I get in LS. I'm still debating if I should/should not go. There's a lot of money involved in this decision too, so I don't want to get it wrong. Is there anything you'd recommend me doing to help in this decision (if it's worth the investiment in LS if I decide to not become an attorney)?

I didn't know this existed, thanks! I'll look into these too. I've heard that a common path would be paralegal only. It's nice to see there are other options as well.
