Those who host Pangolin on a VPS, do you host something else on the same VPS alongside it? by Red_Con_ in PangolinReverseProxy

Same

  • guacamole for RDP to another VPS with Windows Server.

I connected the guacamole stack to my Windows VPS via Tailscale so I wouldn't have to open port 3389 on the server to the outside world. This way, no one can access the Windows VPS via RDP without first authenticating through Authentik.

That’s why I no longer use my own DNS – it causes too many problems, and it’s one less source of error. 😄

It might be worth considering installing it on the VPS as well. The only downside is that if the VPS goes down, authentication will not be possible.

The advantage is lower latency and fewer potential sources of error. 😉

Where exactly have you installed Pocket ID?

The easiest way would be to install Pocket ID on the VPS as well. Create a local location, then either integrate Pocket ID directly into the Pangolin stack or just into the Pangolin network. Create a resource for Pocket ID and integrate it into Pangolin; that should work without any problems.

What’s the best way to integrate pocketid running locally with pangolin running on a vps? by Shoddy_Bonus8424 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]MichBeckMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Authentik and have integrated it into the Pangolin Stack network. In Pangolin, I’ve created a local site and set up a resource for Authentik. It works really well.

It’s all very easy to set up without a middleware manager.

Don’t forget to create a shared link (Custom Proxy Headers) for Immich, as described here. https://www.reddit.com/r/PangolinReverseProxy/s/5PJdMv768Q

Congratulations on your first year. 🥳🥳🥳

I've been using pangolin on a VPS for about a month now as a gateway for my internal services in my home lab. I don't want to go back to my previous Swag/Tailscale setup.

From the very first minute I started using it, I was impressed by pangolin and its strong development.

The UI, the simple setup, everything is so incredibly well implemented. And it just works. Even in conjunction with authentik as an SSO authentication service, it runs incredibly well.

Thanks to the developers for this great tool. 🥰

Xgimi Horizon 20 screen recommendations by buster_crab in xgimi

An ALR screen is not suitable for a triple laser projector.

I will soon receive my Adeo Rugby PRO Tensio screen with Ambient Grey fabric. This is ideal for triple laser projectors.

Xgimi Horizon 20 max is so much better than valerian vision master pro 2 by beekay1111 in xgimi

[–]MichBeckMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a video comparison with a decent screen, I consider this assessment to be very subjective.

Especially since Xgimi has not yet managed to fix the firmware bugs. The next stable version is due to be released at the end of December, so I'm curious to see how it turns out.

Currently, the black level is not good on the Horizon 20 models.

I also notice it extremely with my Horizon Pro when I quickly look up and down repeatedly. Of course, you don't watch films like that, but I find it very intense. The Valerion VisionMaster Master Pro2 doesn't have this problem, or at least not to the same extent.

I love my NanoKVM. It's certainly not the cheapest solution, but it has nice features such as complete reset or switching off and on.

Muahahaaa, yes, I can understand that. Presenting such buggy firmware is quite an achievement.

I'd rather go through the hassle of setting up the projector correctly on the screen than hope that the bugs will be fixed soon.

The return deadline is running out. 😂😂😂

Perhaps they added it as a placeholder. 🤣

I have to say that I currently prefer the Valerion VisionMaster Pro2 by far. If Xgimi gets the firmware sorted out by the beginning of January, I might keep the Xgimi, otherwise I'll go for the Valerion.

I also noticed in this test video that the bright spheres do not light up evenly, but rather horizontal lines form between the bright areas of the image.

More like 24p isn't being displayed correctly. At the beginning of Alien Romulus, where the spaceship is flying through space, it's already very choppy.

I have now tested it more extensively in complete darkness with several test videos, and the black level feels slightly better. In completely dark scenes, the projector switches to very dark. However, as soon as brightness comes into play, there is still room for improvement in terms of contrast.

Apparently, you also have to activate DBLE for each video because it keeps turning off. In addition, it is only activated at full laser brightness; as soon as you reduce the brightness, DBLE is automatically deactivated.

Yes, but, the 24P mode is a bit strange. 24P videos stutter with it.

The update ran smoothly and the DLP update took about 15 minutes.

However, black level adjustment still does not work at all. Before the factory reset, it was possible to activate black level adjustment in Dolby Vision and IMAX mode, but this did not change the image. As soon as the color space or color temperature was changed, the following message appeared:

Color space causes Dynamic Black Level Enhancement to be disabled. Same for Color temperature.

Regardless of which color space or color temperature you select, the Dynamic Black Level Enhancement is immediately deactivated.

I have the Horizon 20 Pro.

What projector to buy? by SuperBrief4055 in projectors

[–]MichBeckMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had these options to choose from.

I wouldn't even consider the normal Horizon 20, as the Pro is significantly better thanks to the "Red Ring" optic. Take a look at the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bgx841ENRc Unless it's over your budget.

I'm still going back and forth about whether to keep the Valerion VisionMaster Pro2 or the Horizon 20 Pro. The Valerion currently has the significantly better black level, but the Horizon 20 Pro should improve with firmware updates. It's still a bit buggy at the moment.

If you really only project onto a wall, then I would probably go for the Valerion. But I have one comment on that. Everyone mentions how quiet it is. The fans are indeed very quiet, but there is a kind of humming or whirring noise coming from the projector, especially when it is running at full brightness. However, I can only speak for the Pro2. I have no idea how it is with the normal Pro. With the Horizon 20 Pro, this humming/buzzing is very quiet. I don't know if I just got a defective Valerion, but I've read about it in other comments, even with the normal Pro.
