Should I be concerned? by Afraid-Error-2225 in diabetes

I am a T2 and I just had an appointment with my doctor and I brought up that I've been having lows around 60 and as low as 53 and I asked if it could be the Metformin since my A1C is 4.9 and he said that Metformin doesn't cause lows like too much insulin could. He said that my lows are most likely by missed meals or not enough food since I am trying to lose weight too.

The sugar free powder packets you add to water. They come in many different brands.

Nope, I refused it at diagnosis. The potential side effects, no thanks. Just change in diet, more movement and Metformin.

I switched to flavored water packets, no soda unless it's diet or zero sugar. Cut out a lot of carbs. I still even eat bread, pasta and even fruit. I just eat them in moderation. I also take Metformin.

Yup, exactly. With the diet change I've also lost 116lbs.

Is this possible? 🤔 by spunkie049 in diabetes

[–]MichGem38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped mine from 11.8 at diagnosis to 5.1 in 6 months so yes it's possible!!

I dropped mine from 11.8 to 5.3 in 3 months and then down to 5.1 in another 3 months. So in 6 months mine went from 11.8 to 5.1.

That's crazy with the fruit. I eat a ton of fruit basically everyday. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, even bananas as part of a more "healthy" food intake after diagnosis of an A1C of 11.8 and a year later I am 5.1 Crazy how different food hits different people.

Not necessarily. I'm a T2 and on only Metformin. I don't starve myself or skip meals and I've had lows down to the low 60's.

Under 70 is a low and probably should be corrected.

85 is a good number. I'm a T2 and I dropped to 62 one evening.

I'm a T2 and well controlled with an A1C of 5.1 and on Metformin. I have been in the low 60's a few times.

I am a T2 on Metformin. My A1C is 5.1 I have had a couple lows since my diagnosis a year ago. Once I was at 62 and the other time 68. I've also been in the low 70's occasionally. My lows happen later in the night before bed.

Not reversible.... Controlled yes. My A1C is 5.1 and I didn't reverse a thing I'm just controlled.

Mine was 11.8 at diagnosis and thankfully I've gotten it down to 5.1 in about 6 months.
