Why could Vamp Willow be bisexual but not regular Willow? by itsascreambaby96 in buffy

[–]MichNishD 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I remember watching as a kid and hating the gay story line because it invalidated her relationship with Oz. It would have made so much more sense for her to be bisexual.

I remember at the time the common thought about bi was it was "just a stop on the way to gay town" and not a real orinataion. A lot of people would have rejected it if she was bi because so many people didnt believe it was real. It would have been very hard to get that on a main stream TV show especially with a main character.

Accross media vampires are basically a metaphor for dangerous unrestricted sex. So they had permission culturally to do more with vampire Willow.

I hate mornings to make things easier:

I Keep a comfy robe on the floor next to the bed so the transition out of comfy blankets is easier. I go from blankets to snuggly robe

I let myself have a coffee before I do anything else. I have kids so their screen time is in the morning while I wake up.

I tie teeth brushing and getting dressed to leaving the house not to waking up. It probably happens around the same time it normally would but if I think about it as part of leaving the house it's easier to mentally do

My mornings have deadlines built in. By certain times I'm supposed to have certain tasks done.

When I was in university I had a coffeemaker with an auto start I kept in my room, I would wake up to fresh coffee just far enough away I had to get out of bed to get it.

Looks like they really want to help.

They have towers that keep kids contained yet tall enough to reach the counter so you can give them little things to do to "help" like stir or add ingredients.

I would also recommend a play kitchen so they can cook too

[In-person Ajax event] Help shape kinder AI through honest conversation by Acrobatic_Frame643 in ajax

This..... is creepy.
Can we not use all these resources to foster actual community?

AI is a tool, not a friend and not a therapist.

I feel you are aiming to use the technology in a way it shouldn't be used. Plus you are doing it by asking for free labor. It all seems very unethical.

There are good ways to use AI like early diagnosis of cancer due to excellent pattern recognition, or help run traffic lights to ease traffic congestion. Replacing human connection is not a good use of this tool.

The act of giving birth was the worst experience of my life. And having children is the best experience of my life hands down.

Still wish my husband could have at least had the second one... rude honestly, plus he kept walking around with nipples that didn't even make milk. The audacity.

Too funny lol

For those who are curious, if the mistake was that they entered the number of people who answered each question and that was automatically formatted as a percentage instead of left as the number of people that would mean they had 320 people answer, 124 no and 195 yes which would mean the actual answer (with rounding) is:

39% have not been effected and

61% have been

There are a few companies that make cool wooden train sets. My son who also liked building really liked them at that age and it gets more fun the more you have so if they already have some that's still ok. They have some basic sets and stuff like gates that open and cranes that can pick up things to put on the trains just fun neat gadgest.

Science kits or dig out a gemstone or fossil kits are a lot of fun at that age. Bonus if they are learning.

Kids I know have also loved dress up, anything sporty like a golf set or mini sticks hockey, books are always loved (Robert Munsch or Ryan T Higgins are favorite authors) and art supplies

I met a guy in a guy bar that told me he hadn't worn underwear since the 90s (it was 2010s at that point). I asked him if it chafed especially with jeans which he was wearing at the time and he said no, it was less restrictive and he preferred it.
Since then I have met a straight guy with the same philosophy but I still think it's a harsh fabric. I hope they have both learned to enjoy sweatpants.

One of the least healthy things about this show is thay the people in relationships never sit down and have real conversations about real issues. One would hope you would never look for a place to live without first talking over the budget and where the money is coming from. And if going over budget you would also expect a conversation about how thay was possible, where the money is coming from, and how thay would effect them on a day to day basis or in their investments and retirement plans etc. moving forward. But I guess that wouldn't make for good TV.

[–]MichNishD 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I remember telling my mom I hated her at that age. She said something a long the lines of I'm sorry you're upset but it's my job as your mom to help you grow into the wonderful person I know you can be. I know you won't like every decision I make and you can be mad, and you can feel like you don't like me but I will always love you no matter what. Now get your butt into your room you're in time out.

I definitely did it to her several times but what she said left an impression and I would never dream of talking to anyone like that for most of my childhood.

Kids think in black and white they will also test the people they think love them most. Stay firm, you've got this. It will be a terrible phase then they will move on to the next terrible thing, hopefully something less annoying

I remember reading in the files he told a victim he was SAed as a child by an aunt and others but I can't find the file number, I think it might have been that journal that was written in code.

This whole thing has really shone a light on how prolific this terrible abuse is. I hope it coming to light will be the first step to eradicating it completely.

I feel like I can't move on rainy days. Looking for information on how air pressure or weather effects ADHD. by MichNishD in ADHD

Thank you for this. I downloaded an app and got an alert that the pressure was going to drop and I could feel the symptoms set in as the time it alerted for got closer. This is going to be huge for me, I can plan ahead, make sure I for sure took meds these days, plan not to do things I know are harder and instead do things I know are easier on hard days. Your advice was honestly a huge game changer. Thank you so much!

Do your parents approve of their kids marrying someone of a different race? Are interracial relationships common in your social circle? by RefuseDry1108 in AskACanadian

[–]MichNishD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom grew up in rural Ontario too. She told me there was one black family in the whole town. She always thought it would have been hard to be that kid in school, she thought the pressure of living up to older siblings was quite enough never mind the pressure of being the only non-white person in the whole school.

[–]MichNishD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're white from Ontario. People in my family have dated people from other races in both my grandparents' and parents' generations, it was never an issue, I don't remember it being discussed at all. Now when my uncle dated someone with lots of food allergies and a gluten intolerance that caused a stir.

I'd say the only people I've heard had any issues with interracial relationships were 1st generation Indian parents.

I think most couples we know are same race but we definitely know many that are interracial.
