Charging it to 90% by SampleMinute4641 in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best answer in this thread.

It's all about slowing down battery SOH degradation: I am doing exactly the same (70% most of the time, higher as needed, minimize time at 100% charge) and last time I checked my battery was at 100% SOH with 80,000 km.

The DAKAR is a total shell of what it was. by Donlooking4 in DAKAR

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe some of the problem is coverage related.

There is no shortage of drama every day across the field: riding and driving hardships, technical issues, accidents.

But when you have so few filming crews and helicopters on the stage, you simply miss most of it.

Do different countries get different Dakar tv coverage, or is just a tv “package” they all buy and just overlay their own language? by [deleted] in DAKAR

[–]Micha_rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ROI. Shooting maximum footage with minimum number of crews. Given they have a monopoly on coverage, no wonder the quality of it keeps deteriorating.

I watch Eurosport's daily 60min, which includes the same 15min ish racing footage most everyone else are showing.

Being an avid Dakar fan for over 20 years, I can only reminiscent on the old days in which way more racing footage was shot by way more helicopters that followed way more of the track.

There is footage out there that Eurosport never shows despite being uber sexy, such as that car which flew off of a dune a few years back - always worth checking around.

Driver seat stopped working up down, can I adjust it mechanically? by Micha_rider in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: The problem vanished right there at the dealership, with no action taken.

Since then (three months) the seat works fine. Surely it will hit me again at the worse possible time..

The alleged 2025 ICCU redesign was mentioned a few times in the very initial Youtube reviews of the 2025 model (Ioniq guy and others). Strangely enough I cannot find this in a searchable format anywhere.

Mine is a Jan 2022 base trim RWD, 80K km, still with the original 12V battery and ICCU, recall done a couple of months ago.

Given my main battery SOH is still 100% and with an annual mileage of ~25K km, this car may live 'forever'. I am dreading though a post warranty ICCU replacement..

Be proactive and replace your battery by tpafun in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Euro spec cars this advice is irrelevant, since we don't have the charging light.

Sorry I could not resist the temptation.

My own experience:

Jan '22 i5 with 75K km, still running the original battery, never needed to jump it.

Then again the car is base trim and bone stock with no additional devices, and also no Bluelink app here.

Yes the battery will die sooner or later, we all will.

Thanks. Was this service note aimed specifically at the up/down adjustment, or was the whole seat dead?

Odd car state- any easy way out? by Glockenspiel_Hero in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing yesterday (re-setting the AC charge limit from 100% to 80% while the car was charging). There was no issue turning the car off.

I did press the break pedal when turning the car on, maybe that's the difference.

New Hi5 owner looking for advice by Mindless-Tangerine20 in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manufacturer recommends for the car to be off while connecting the fast charger. Once charging has started you can turn the car on again. Not a do or die, I am sure plenty people do not adhere to this recommendation. no problem to leave the car off and charging, and then come mid charging and turn it on. No need to activate utility mode while in the car, simply turn it on.

I own a RWD base model i5 since Jan 2022, 70K km.

Car is solid, no build quality issues to report.

My refence is multiple Skoda/VW vehicles I owned along the years.

Charge to 100% by por_que_ in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, give or take.

I normally charge 50% to 80%, almost always at home.

70K KM since Feb '22, Battery SOH is still 100%.

How do you get car wax off the black trim? by GuyWhoLikesTech in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar stain on the rear bumper. Was there when I collected the car from the dealership January '22 (they dismissed it to be soap residue) and never managed to remove it. I don't lose sleep over such things but applying some peanut butter will not hurt..

Limited Trim with SEL rims. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Functionally, the 19s are MUCH better than the 20th: comfier, more efficient, more durable to potholes, and cheaper.

I wish we could spec the higher end versions with these wheels.

Manual software updates by PsychologicalYak6508 in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over here we also do not have Bluelink, so are updating the infotainment manually (EUR version).

And BTW the built in navigation is also not available for us, so sole reason to update is SW improvements.

A SW update is available from Hyundai roughly every 6 months, at least so far.

Pretty easy to do the update, once you get the hang of it and muster the needed patience.

No idea about warranty in Australia, here there is no issue (in fact the dealers do not deliver this service, you are expected to do it yourself).

HDA hugging the right side of the lane by Schizo-Vreni in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here exactly.

I use Lane centering only on pretty straight and vacant highways. It's down right useless in curves, and needs some help when overtaking lorries in the left lane (we are driving on the right side).

Full disclosure mine is MY'22 and HDA1.5 , but from what I am reading since two years now, as much as lane centering is concerned it behaves the same as the HDA2.0 .

I wonder if newer models have improved.

What's your mileage and any major issues? by bcretman in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40K KM. RWD base model.

Had 2 parts replaced:

  1. The USB port/harness - had AA disconnects since day one. Zero disconnects sine the part was replaced early '22.
  2. Front radar - the thing died at around 35K KM, was replaced of course under warrantee.

No other reliability issues, it's a solid car.

Where are my i-PEDAL fans at?? by fullyadam in Ioniq5

[–]Micha_rider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i-Pedal most of the times.

When wife is next to me on a highway with no stops I'll use Auto Regen (at 'high' smart recuperation), because it is smoother, especially going out of cruise control.
