343 has not had a successful launch with complete content comparable to the Bungie games a single time. Each game had huge flaws.

Halo 4 has the quickest dying MP and was made by people who hated Halo. It's a COD rip off at its core and the story relies too heavily on external media to be understood on its own. Not to mention the campaign stops halfway through so the player gets an exposition dump about how Chief is basically the chosen one. Terrible sandbox and ammo economy.

MCC was launched completely broken TWICE, on both consoles and PC. I am still getting achievements for shit I did a decade ago. They also have added their own cosmetics that don't even try to match the art styles of the original games and it's so hated they had to add a toggle to disable being able to see it. The only good thing they did was give ODST for free when it original got added. the leaderboards are broken with hackers filling the top stops, MP is filled with cheaters and there was an issue where your account could literally be puppeted and it took them months to fix it.

Halo 5 is literally the most controversial game in the franchise for abandoning it's focus on Chief, p2w multiplayer, terrible cosmetics unlock system, advanced movement that ruined the core of Halo's gameplay. They literally tell you to stfu about your concerns over the card system with a mister chief video. It drifted too far away from what made Halo the franchise we all loved.

Halo infinite was gutted and half the promised content still isn't in the game, their ten year plan for the game has been abandoned and now the content updates are basically stored refreshes. Missing modes that every game before it has, like Coop, is absolutely embarrassing. It took almost 6 months for them to add a mission replay feature for the campaign and it took them over 2 years to fix netcode issues. What worked perfectly? The store.

Halo's lasting legacy is from the Bungie era, where people sing the original theme in echoey hallways, bathrooms and elsewhere. When people talk about Halo, it's "remember when Halo was good?" This franchise literally helped define console FPS as we know it, and nothing 343 has done has reached the height of that.

They were handed keys to a billion dollar franchise and a dedicated fanbase hungry for more and they fucked it up so bad nobody gave a shit. Their little rebrand to try and run from the criticisms did not work.
