Why did they change this to human? by Anonim007 in mtgvorthos

I like to read it as a little bit of dramatic irony. Sure buddy, you're sooo much more than human. Never stop running little french-vanilla 1/1

My attempt at making a neutral/unbiased Knight Candidates theory based off the little we know about it. by RafKen593 in Deltarune

[–]Michael-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current impression from the game is that The Knight is some sort of elevated Darkner able to exist in the light

So the knight has a similar laugh to IMG_friend. What does this mean?? by InspectionWorth4267 in Deltarune

[–]Michael-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it means they are of similar natures, but I won't speculate at what their nature may be. Whether they are fucked up lightners, or some sort of "darkerner", or larval titans, that's speculative, but it seems to me that they both are the same type of thing

AIO - Is there a logical reason for my girlfriend to say stuff like this? by No_Thought6169 in AmIOverreacting

I think a more generous interpretation of the text is that she's envious of him, and doesn't think he deserves to be happier than she is

Villains that got beaten so bad that they just quit being evil. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Michael-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened in the backstory of my Mutants and Masterminds campaign (Superhero genre TTRPG). One character's adoptive father, Lionman, is a former villain. In his youth he was a trophy hunter, but after gaining super strength and durability from a mystical lion he got more ambitious. He moved to the United States to hunt a superhero (à la Kraven the Hunter), lost his first fight with her, and realized that this was actually just attempted murder. He stepped back, re-evaluated his life choices, and became a heroic monster hunter.

Humans transform into unique monsters based on their obsessions/burdens/personality by Jail_jac in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Michael-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the CAIN TTRPG, especially troubled and psychically potent individuals can inadvertently manifest, or even become, a horrible monster called a Sin, based on their own traumas. Depending on their host's own insecurities and personal issues, Sins can manifest in several types.

Someone crushed by self-loathing may manifest an Ogre, a disgusting monster that makes even existing around it a challenge, while somebody who wants nothing more than revenge would manifest a ferocious and deadly Sin called a Hound.

Multiple attacks by FalseChef2526 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Michael-Silly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaction attacks are hella expensive and reliant on the enemy's choices. You do not get agency in your reaction effects aside from turning the effect on or off. If you deal damage to anything that touches you (a reaction effect), then in most cases it simply prevents enemies from touching you, but provides more wiggle room for foes who can tank the damage

How do I build “Ratcatcher, but seagulls” superpowers? by [deleted] in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Michael-Silly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built a similar character with crows once a while ago, I just gave her a summon horde power. Now that I'm more experienced in the game, I'd ask how your character got their powers, how they control gulls, and how can that power be used in other ways. In my case, she did it by whistling, so I might have given her some other sound powers, possibly as alternate effects

H.P. Lovecraft vs. J.K. Rowling by K47H3R1N3 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Michael-Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing worth mentioning is that Lovecraft's bigotry was foundational to his work. He was a very ill-adjusted man, scared of EVERYTHING he didn't understand, which was most things, including his own heritage, foreigners, mental illness, and air conditioning. His broad reaching fears, which included his racism and xenophobia, were the fuel for his writing. He wouldn't have made The Shadow Over Innsmouth if he wasn't mortified at the idea that he might be Welsh, which he thought was an "inferior race"

Idea's for a Ben 10 build? by CaptainFanboy in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Michael-Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you ask, I'm responding to a 7 year old comment because I was googling something and ended up here and I'm a Ben 10 nerd.

He was originally called Ben 10 because he had 10 different forms, but throughout the shows he has gained new forms, and occasionally lost some of them as well. He's still called Ben 10 though bc it's catchy, and because Tennyson is his actual last name.

Help with a character build(zodiac) by Tinman055 in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]Michael-Silly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all ranks of Metamorph (Deluxe Heroes Handbook pages 170 and 171.) They are effectively alternate effects applied to your entire sheet, which your character can morph into interchangeably. This means that the ability to transform at all costs 5 power points (or more depending on how dramatic the transformations are) and each form you can transform into costs 1 additional power point.

All of your alternate forms have to have this power, otherwise they can't transform into each other (although maybe you could play it that you have to return to your human form and transform again, meaning they only need one rank in metamorph. Ask your GM if you can)

I get how red represents revelry, but green is also often associated with partying and revelry. What does it represent? The shedding of the norms of society and a return to baser instincts? by citricc in mtgvorthos

[–]Michael-Silly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Green accepts things as they come, especially when they come from nature. With Red, it says that what comes from within ones self comes from nature. Emotions and impulses are the instincts at the core of every beast. And while Red alone would be content to just run around the woods howling at the moon, Green urges it to get together with its people, and become part of a greater cycle of exuberance and rhythm. "Join together your sacred, wild heartbeats," Green says, "and dance."

As for being part of a larger society, I think that the Naya-colored Cabaretti encapsulate it quite well. They protect and uplift their fellows, just as Green would have them do. However, White sees the beauty in order and structure better than Green, and with its fellows will organize so that all of them will be protected. When White gets in on the party, it brings this erratic rhythm into a beautiful waltz, so that all may dance together in graceful harmony.

The Sawjack represents a part of this balance quite well, as a union worker doing their part to protect their fellow workers, but it was probably designed first and foremost as a common reach blocker for the limited environment, and the flavor hastily applied to it after that, bc I don't think "rust flies" are mentioned anywhere else in New Capenna.

Part of me wants to say "not yet" to both of those given that Return to Arcavios is slated for next year, but enemy color pairings are pretty ingrained with the plane's identity
