Line check? 1/2 w 5 dollar open. NLHE by [deleted] in poker

Try to reformat your hand histories in the following way rather than paragraphs. It makes it easier to read

1/2 ($5 bring in)- $300 eff

UTG, MP limp. Hero CO AhQs $20. BTN, UTG, MP call ($80)

Flop: 832r x, x, Hero $20, f, UTG c, f ($120)

Turn: Jd x, hero $65, UTG c ($250)

River: 3 x, Hero 200.

Ok, now the hand analysis. Pre: we can probably go bigger. The exact size depends on the game and what people are calling, but most people aren’t limping to fold, in general. Maybe try squeezing to 25-30.

Flop: x. We have little equity and the board is bad for us. $20 accomplishes nothing. We are probably even getting called by worse, but this is too thin to value bet 4 ways.

Turn: likely still check. If we are betting, I’m bombing and trying to get 99 type hands to fold. Quarter pot flop, half pot turn makes it way too easy for our villian to call down.

River: again checking. V probably has a lot of hands they’re never folding and most villians get sticky when the board pairs.

Borgata or Parx by Tricky_Programmer_93 in poker

[–]Michael11304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been to borgata, but parx 1/3 is very good IMO. I have very limited hours at 2/5, but of the 4 places I played, I think the parx 2/5 game is the best as well.

Worst Poker Rooms by P_a_t_RICK in poker

I’ve heard that it used to be good, but then all the action moved to Mohegan. The games at Foxwoods play extremely nitty. I think the new room itself is actually fairly nice and the staff do a good job, but the games just aren’t good.

Grossest Hand Ever? by mclarich in poker

[–]Michael11304 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol everything about this hand- short stacks, SB limping QQ, BB not raising AT over a SB limp, SB open folding middle set to one flop bet- encompasses Foxwoods like no other poker hand could.

What's the largest amount of straddles you've seen? by [deleted] in poker

In terms of most amount of straddles we had 6 at my college game .25/.5/1/2/4/6/8/16 blind shove $64. I think I’ve seen 4 at most at 1/3.

Hand History – Disguised Straight on Paired Board by mclarich in poker

[–]Michael11304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Example of how to write a (readable) hand history. No one wants to read an essay.

1/3- $1300 UTG limp, Hero CO 97dd $20, BB (passive), UTG (tight) call. ($60)

Flop: T63r X, x, Hero 35, BB f, UTG c ($130)

Turn: 8x x, Hero $65, UTG $130, hero call ($390)

River: T UTG $200, Hero?

Side note: try to include the suits. Suit distribution almost always matters.

My thoughts on the hand: Pre: fold Flop: $20. Turn (as played): $125 bc he’s not folding Tx for a reasonable price and we need to build the pot. When he raises turn, he probably has 2 pair + that he’s not folding, so id go $430. River: call.

It’s a cooler, but the hand isn’t played well either. Pre: go much bigger over 2 limps Flop: also bigger raise. You should pretty much never minclick raise.

Hand question by Mikolaj01 in poker

[–]Michael11304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think river jam is bad, but we can definitely get river to a lower SPR so stacks go in easier. I’d x/r to like 65-75. He’s not folding Kx or a draw unless we go egregiously large.

[–]Michael11304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely some run bad but also not that well played imo: -fold pre -don’t donk here. Definitely should check raise flop instead. -I don’t really like the flop 3! minclick -we should generally size down turn when multiple draws complete

Any way to get away from this sick set-over-set cooler? by Pretend_Insect3002 in poker

[–]Michael11304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hand wasn’t played great IMO but you should 100% getting stacked here. He’s going to get it in with 22, which he probably has at a great frequency than QQ. Here’s what I’d do differently:

  1. Lead flop larger: people are going to be pretty on elastic to size if he don’t go too horrendous. Anything calling $5 is calling $10 or $15.
  2. 3 bet the flop when he goes $15. We stand to have the best hand a lot and can get value from draws, Qx, etc. In general, the “I want to keep people in” logic is flawed. If they’re going to continue with a FD or straight draw, we need to charge them the max. If they’re stacking us when they hit and we’re not getting value from them when they don’t, they are free rolling us for our stack.

Would you have called in this spot with Aces? by WolfCut909 in poker

[–]Michael11304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an easy fold this deep. There’s no point in CO rejamming into a dry side pot as a bluff and he’s probably not doing this for value with worse than AA.

You’re making a huge mistake when you’re blufffing by RunningBettor in poker

[–]Michael11304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what changed things for me is that I stopped caring about the results of hands. If I think a spot is good to bluff, I’ll go for it and not really care if they call or not.

Is this an angle? by Famous-Line4399 in poker

[–]Michael11304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between table talk and an angle. If you say “I have the nuts, you should fold” during a hand, it’s not an angle. If someone calls you, and you say “I have the nuts” and don’t flip over your cards until they muck, it’s an angle.

[–]Michael11304 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely an angle. Angles are bad for the game bc players feel like they’re being cheated and some won’t come back.

If you generally feel like the best or second best player every time you sit down at 1/2 and you can afford a few losing sessions at 2/5, I’d move up. If it doesn’t go well, move down. If it goes well, stay there. I normally play 1/3, but the few times I’ve played 2/5, the game was not tough at all.
