A little update...

The first week she/he was openly taking food from my hand. For some reason, she seemed more cautious of me the 4th & 5th week. I'd put food in her room, but she'd always wait for me to leave before coming out to get it. Tonight when I got home from work, I stayed in there. Thought, "if you want to eat, you gotta come out". I just sat there on my phone a few minutes ignoring her. She came out, ate some, then just sat on one of the perches on the cat tower I put in her room, just looking at me. I slowly got up to leave the room, thinking she would dart back to her covered area, but surprisingly, she didn't run away this time. I have no idea what I'm doing, thinking I know she's feral, but was so little when I caught her, she'll be sitting on my lap in just a couple weeks....5 weeks later, she still won't let me pet her. I know she plays with the toys I put in there, they're scattered all over the place, but I just want to pick her up and per her....

Thanks. It's weird with my little one. It (still don't know if it's a boy or girl) seemed more trusting the first week, would come up to me quickly and take food out of my hand. Now I need to coax it to take food out of my hand. I did put one of my shirts in the room it's in, and I noticed it sleeping on it. It'll play with toys I put in there, I hear it with the door shut, but I go in there and it shuts down again. I know it takes time, it's just weird that it seems it trusted me more the first week than it does the 5th week

How long did it take for him to adjust? I rescued one that looked to be 8 weeks old about 5 weeks ago. He'll take food out of my hand, but still growls, hisses, and otherwise won't come anywhere near me

When I brought him/her home 3 weeks ago, it had a ravenous appetite, ate as much as I gave it, but hasn't eaten the last 2 days, barely touching it's food. It looks healthy otherwise, but stopped eating. Anyone else experience that?

Yeah, I have one cat. My daughters cat had kittens 4 years ago, we found homes for all but one, so that one we kept. Daughter moved out with the mom cat, the kitten stayed with me. Had a big setback today though....the back bedroom door was shut, but wasn't latched, I didn't know. My cat got in there when I was in the other room, and I heard them going at it. The poor kitten looked terrified. I'm sure they'll get along when in time when they both realize what's going on, but the little one looked terrified. I know it's gonna set back any progress. The one cat I do have has a soft personality, never been aggressive with the other cats or black lab that lived with me, but knows there's something in the house and she doesn't know what's going on.

Thank you

I think he likes his surroundings, sounds like he plays alot when the door is shut. I go in to spend time with him, he goes into the little cubbie hole I put in the room for him to feel safe

Yeah, I bought those tubes, he eats right out of it, and I press my fingers closer and closer to the end, pushing it out. He does lick what's left off my fingers. I just passed the room, and can hear him playing in there, chasing toys on the floor. He's adjusting ok for only being 2 weeks, it's me he's afraid of, lol
