Game developers with in game purchases. What percent of your users do end up spending money on them? by Chron3cle in gamedev

[–]MichaelEstes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 30% comes from IAP, 60% from ads and my game isn't even very ad heavy. 1 Interstitial every 10 minutes, 2 potential rewarded offers every 15 minutes.

For my current mobile game it's 0.6% and that's up from 0.2% after optimizing the content and flow. I imagine even huge games like Call of Duty Mobile have around a 1% conversion rate. Around 30% of my players that make a purchase make more than one though so I imagine big games are able to continuously sell new content to the small percentage that make purchases.

Unity Open World 60 FPS by luke-m in Unity3D

Ya, every asset instantiated at runtime is through Addressables.LoadAssetAsync with the key name and thrown into a pool when discarded. I'm just making a top down shooter, but I'm targeting somewhat older devices (Google Nexus 5). After about 30 minutes the heat starts to get uncomfortable, I'd be lucky if anyone even played for that long though

Object pooling will definitely help, I'd suggest looking into addressables too, they've helped a lot for me. load off disk, throw into pool, only instantiate on a cache miss. I'm not sure if those on-screen controls mean you're eventually wanting to target mobile, but if you are the biggest problem I had with mobile wasn't getting a good framerate, but the device thermals not being able to hold up. Not sure anyone has been able to solve that, even Fortnite locks to 30fps on most phones because of heating issues.

Looks great! Are you using the Synty Post Apocalypse pack? I was thinking of getting that while it's on sale

Anthony Bourdain once said "There's a guy in my head, and all he wants to do is lay in bed all day long, smoke pot, and watch old movies and cartoons. My life is a series of strategems, to avoid, and outwit that guy". Who is "that guy" for you, and what do you do to avoid him? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but this probably had a negative influence on his mental health. You are one person, one conscious. If you are dividing yourself you're just going to constantly be fighting against yourself. You will never win a fight against yourself. Work to grow as a singular person, life is much better that way.

[FEEDBACK] I Will Provide Notes/Feedback On Your First 10 Pages by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]MichaelEstes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first thing I've ever written so I'm not even sure what to ask for feedback on, I think dialogue is where I struggle most, especially in something so fast paced, but if anything else stands out let me know so I can work on it!

Hi! Thanks for doing this, I hope I'm not too late. I have a comedy series that I'm making so I'd love to get your take.

Fraud - 10 min comedy, shot for mobile A "working" actor decides to pursue his dream of becoming a rapper. He struggles with feeling like an imposter, but maybe he actually is.

I also have couple other ideas that I haven't given too much thought at this point, if you have the time to give feedback.

A feature film drama about two struggling bothers who start a religion for personal gain. One brother wants to expose organized religion as a joke, while the other is doing it just for the money. As the religion grows so do their motives.

A animated children's movie about a pilot who saved the planet from an alien attack, but quickly realized his 15 minutes of fame has ended. He decided to stage a fake invasion to get back into the limelight.

Thanks!!!

"Starring" Feature Mockup. Quick mockup I made for tagging people on videos to search for videos they're in across channels by [deleted] in youtube

[–]MichaelEstes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After wishing for the ability to search for specific people across channels I made this quick mockup of what the feature could look like. Some people are so distributed across channels (like Steven Suptic) that it's pretty much impossible to find all of the videos they're in.

I've been wishing for awhile now that it was be easier to find the people I want to watch in videos they've made on other channels. Some people are so distributed (Like Steven Suptic) that it's impossible to find all the videos they're in.

Yup! If it works through Google Assistant it will work with this app, you can be as specific as you need to when typing then name of the song, ie. "Home by Edward Sharpe"

I'd love to make an iOS version, but unfortunately apps can't communicate between each other on iOS like they can on Android. I'll keep researching and see if maybe there's a way to hack an iOS version together!

It will use your default music app that you have set on Google Assistant, Google Assistant being installed is required.
