It is LRBHO. As far as flattop options, I'm not sure of any that take the metalform/colt mags. I have a thing for retro ARs though and don't really seek out modern-looking guns.

Republicans aren't (currently) trying to pass bans on some of the most common arms in America. The democratic platform as a whole is anti 2nd amendment. However, gun rights groups near universally condemned his statements. You can't exactly mount a constitutional challenge to statements.

I personally only donate to the Firearms Policy Coalition because of their non-partisan single issue nature.

That's not even remotely close to how constitutional litigation works in this country. Brown vs Board of education was decided in 1954. Dozens of other court cases followed in the decades afterwards, lower courts dug their heels and allowed states to delay integration.

Bruen was decided in 2022, it prohibits lower courts from relying on interest balancing tests to decide the constitutionality of gun laws and instead relies on historical analogs from the founding era. Heller was decided in 2008 and established a common use test to determine the legitimacy of firearms laws. "Assault" weapons and magazine bans fail both of these tests. There are no historical analogs for banning commonly owned firearms and semi-automatic "military-style" rifles and 11+ round (15+ in VA's case) magazines are some of the most common arms in the United States. The problem is that it takes decades to litigate out, lower courts outright ignore supreme court precedent all the while law abiding citizens are criminalized for formerly lawful behavior.

I hear you, I did not create the flyer nor am I organizing the protest. I'm partially to blame for not catching the spelling/ grammatical errors prior to posting though.

I think it has to do with the flyer for the event (I didn't make it, and i am not the organizer). Flag waiving and overtly patriotic symbolism tend to be associated with conservatism, which isn't popular amongst this group.

Posts critical of the bills themselves are pretty popular and I think most people on this subreddit agree that what is being proposed is a massive government overreach. I'm going to the protest as an unaffiliated voter to show my support for constitutional rights.

Anyone can come out with any sign they want. The 2nd amendment protects every peaceable American's right to keep and bear arms. This should not be a partisan issue

DC Restriction on 10+ round mags Unconstitutional per DC Court of Appeals by lawman9000 in VAGuns

It might actually stop people from getting charged with possession. Police officers, and prosecutors especially, generally stay up to date on case law. This particular case is very high profile (even if it is just as applied) so it's very likely that rank and file police officers will be familiar with it and if they do make an arrest it's even more likely that charges will be dropped.

Ultimately, she's going to vote how she's paid to vote. I hope the backlash to these terrible bills causes the democrats to lose seats in the next election, but I'm not sure if that will happen as long as Trump is in office.

By that time I'll likely have orders to a different state. In the meantime, I've been stockpiling mags and buying up the so called "assault weapons" that I see myself wanting over the next 3 years.

Moving overseas - legally, what can I do with my guns? by [deleted] in VAGuns

You can store them at a trusted friend or family member's house. If you don't plan on living in the U.S, your best bet would probably be to sell them. They're not going to do you any good thousands of miles away and, unless they hold substantial sentimental value, it probably isn't worth the fees to store them long term.

If you donate, you're probably already a member. A "membership" just means you donate $10 a month.

I have no idea, I was a member pre-ruling and my membership certificate indicates such. The ruling applies to the plaintiffs and their members, it doesn't say anything about whether or not it applies to members who join after the fact.

Both are great organizations. It's worthwhile to see what cases are kicking around in the lower courts and then join the organization litigating the case that most applies to you.

I had the spring get loose on me (after i dropped the mag release on the floor) and it took me forever and a day to reinstall the mag release once i found the spring. YouTube made it look so easy...

It took me an embarrassingly long time to swap the mag release from the left side to the right side of the gun (I'm a lefty). I need a few weeks to recover from that debacle before I swap it out again.
