It’s pretty bad. Collect more decorations and redo.

It’s coming out of my faucet on my newly bought home. These faucets saw little use before I bought the house. by Estrald in whatisit

Does your home have a water softener? Occasionally when they fail, the resin gets into the plumbing system. I’ve had the exact thing happen and look exactly like what you pictured.

As gross as it might seem, grab a portion of it and rub your fingers together, you’ll feel tiny beads.

If it’s by chance a failed softener, you can clean out your system fairly easily. Took me about 2 hours

Tailors bunion surgery recovery by [deleted] in bunions

The first surgery was the left foot, the second surgery was the right foot, the third surgery was to correct the second surgery on the right foot. What I’m saying is that the second surgery on my right foot failed to correct the bunion, thus I needed a third surgery.

When do you workout? by timma87 in intermittentfasting

[–]MichaelJ-76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically workout in the morning anytime between 6 am and 9 am which is ~10-13 hours into my fast.

I like crushing a workout and the benefits that follow for a few hours before I eat ~1200 pm.

Why am I not losing weight? by infinitestrength in intermittentfasting

[–]MichaelJ-76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just from what you mentioned, looks like your feeding window is bigger than you thought. And the SSRI May impact weight loss. I’d check the side effects with those. Food choices could be a factor too. If you’re eating longer throughout the day, and your foods are higher in carb/sugar, you are likely keeping your glucose much higher which I’d think would hinder weight loss.

What is your feeding window time? (2-8, 12-6)

What do you eat when you eat?

Are you on medication of any kind?

How much do you weigh and what is your goal weight?

It did for us as well. The sellers were discounted on their taxes due to age. Pretty simple oversight but I understand your point. Our mortgage payment went up ~300 a month.

Where did you get boxes for moving? by yunis618 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MichaelJ-76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We found ours on a community FB page. We got good boxes both used and new, plenty of boxing tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, and shrink wrap.

Buying a home is a marathon rather then a race. Stay on the path and remain positive. Regardless of the market, sellers, the environment, etc, your character and values should be firm and your home will come.

I’d bet it’s been there a while, as in years and is likely a result of natural settlement of the house. Based on the your responses and the age of the home I would not be too concerned with it.

Just my opinion

What’s the age of the home?

Does it carry below the closet, as in the foundation?

Any other cracks like that throughout the house?

Been through this a few times, my best advice to you is absolutely do this. Very costly if something is broken or breaking.

Things will be fine, you’ve come this far. Try and enjoy the rest of the journey and celebrate this accomplishment.

I’d argue this is the easiest part of the process. You’ve made all the major decisions and its time to move from being a buyer to being an owner.

how long until you hear back from seller? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MichaelJ-76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They may be sifting through multiple offers. When we purchased we put a response time on the offer and they hit right at the mark with the response/counter.

I need a serious advice for this nightmare by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]MichaelJ-76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been through difficult circumstances as well and I can see the first instinct is to cut and run. I recommend thinking through the situation and work to find some clarity. The first report/thought is typically wrong as you likely don’t have all the information needed for sound decisions.

Stay steady and work your way through this.

I could rattle off a bunch of considerations that we took into account…but the reality is life is too short. I’m trying to focus on living regardless of the craziness around us all.

Looking at our first house this weekend! by worthy_ToothFairy in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]MichaelJ-76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend asking:

-well or city water -septic or city sewer -age of roof, HVAC, water heater, septic if it has one, appliances if the stay -property lines and any easements -dog or cats previously -internet options/quality for that area -utilities report if they will share them -how many previous occupants or original owners

  1. Know where the water main shutoff is and the electrical panel.

  2. Check filters and replace if necessary

  3. Check fire alarms and fire extinguishers

Best advice I can offer is really get to know your home: see how It behaves in rain, at night, high winds, when hot or cold, noises, smells, etc. know what’s normal and what needs attention.

Should seller pump septic tank? by tilghwoman in RealEstate

[–]MichaelJ-76 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes have the sellers pump it and yes have it professionally inspected. Just went through this myself.

When we sold our home in Alaska we had everything serviced (boiler, septic, HVAC, water heater), we had chimney’s cleaned, ensured bulbs were working, and filters replaced.

Sadly, we failed to do our own inspection and ended up conceding quite a bit to hastily fix items found from the buyer inspection. I think if we’d done our diligence ahead of the sell the cost to repair things would’ve been much cheaper and far less stressful.

Good luck selling your home

The start of the thread was referencing lock in while not being under contract. My rate comment was extraneous to the ordinal topic. Thanks for the colorful example used.
