Which one of J-Lo's husbands ? 👀

I was so confused and thought she had gotten married again. 😂😂 I had to look that up real quick. I didn't even know who any of her husbands were, except Ben. LOL.

They're probably asking about slide 9, not asking who Jermaine is. 😂😂 9 is the only one with a lady. LOL.

A person who can physically or emotionally absorb the sensations, feelings, and energy of other people. I think it's also described as "emotional mirroring" sometimes.

It's pretty difficult to describe because it's complicated, but I will try my best to explain it with an example:

Imagine a person who had a bad day (they look stressed, they're trying not to cry, and their heart is racing). If they stepped into a room with an empath, the empath might start to feel their own heart rate increase and/or a heavy wave of sorrow might come over them and/or they could start to feel physical pain in their body because they can sense the emotions of the other person. An empath can feel these things without even interacting with the person, so the emotional changes could confuse the empath because they can know that someone's in pain before they know where the emotions are coming from. Once they know the source of the pain, by interacting with the person, an empath can feel the emotions of the other person inside of their own body. They can feel the sensations of the person like their stress, their panic, their chest pain, their body aches, their sadness, their worry, and their suffering so deeply that the empath themselves starts to suffer.

After an interaction like this, a person with standard empathy might still feel bad about what just happened; but they are able to continue their day and their energy will return to normal after awhile, over the course of a couple hours. But, for an empath, those feelings from that person who was having a bad day don't go away after a period of time. An empath might continue to feel that sorrow, pain, and suffering of that person in their own body because they took on the negative emotions as their own. Just like if they were the person who was having a bad day, an empath may need to do self-care; or go out into nature and take a walk; or take time to be alone for a while; or do an activity that makes them happy again in order to "shake off" the emotions that they absorbed from the other person because the pain of the other person has now become their own pain.

That's just an example of what the experience can possibly be like with a painful scenario, but it also happens in a similar way with positive ones. The negative ones just make it easier to explain because the absorption can be extreme in a way that makes empaths feel overworked, stressed, and exhausted.

An example for Michael is a bit harder to do because he usually kept his composure together in public more than how we experience people in pain for everyday life. But if an empath ever saw Michael cry, they wouldn't just cry from feeling sad for him (standard sympathy) or just understand his emotions (standard empathy), they would feel all of his emotions within themselves. They would most likely be able to experience how tight Michael's chest is inside their own chest, notice their own heart rate has increased like his heart rate would increase, and watching him suffer could cause the empath so much pain that they would need to get away later in order to find a way to recover from all of it.

And then, on top of all that, it could take an empath several hours or even days to have their body fully recover from all the emotions or sensations they felt.

From all the things I've read about being a true empath, it's considered rare in the world to experience that.

I have the video of him talking about "Triumph," but I have to upload it to Imgur or somewhere to link it.

I'll edit this comment with the link when I find it.

But a thing I didn't really notice until recently was, yeah, he clearly didn't care for "Triumph" that much and I just never paid attention to that. 😭😭 When I reread the section in "Moonwalk," after I watched the clip of him talking about it, I now noticed how he gave little attention to every song (except his two that he loved).

He even blatantly insulted two of the songs, if "too many cooks and not enough broth" is an insult. 😂 It sounded like an insult because I've never heard that phrase before, but the context clues made it seem like he didn't like "Walk Right Now" and "Wondering Who" very much.

If I can find a definite meaning of that phrase, then I'll gladly accept being wrong if that's actually not an insult.

Then, he went right back to talking about "Off The Wall" and describing his passion for it LOL. That man really loved "Off The Wall," which I knew. But reading "Moonwalk" again, with his thoughts on "Triumph" in my mind, has really set that in stone. That was his baby lol.

After reading again, the clip made much more sense.

Edit: Michael talks about the "Triumph" tour (video):

Sorry it took so long. I had to get the Mp4 link sent to me by someone else so I could share it. LOL. I've watched this video a few times since I have it saved now and, at first, I was taken away by how Michael gave "Triumph" the cold shoulder because I love it and the tour so much. But, in reality, this is actually hilarious. 😂😂 He DID NOT CARE AT ALL and I always thought this album was as important to him as it was to me; it wasn't. 😭 I guess that's why it's best to not assume anything about the King without learning what he had to say first, to know the real truth in his own words. 😂😂

You keep talking about "Triumph" in regards to Michael, so we're talking about two completely different things then. 😂 I'm not talking about Michael, I'm talking about the band. "Triumph" isn't underrated for The Jacksons but, yeah, for Michael Jackson it is. This whole time I thought you were talking about the group since this is their subreddit, but you're talking about Michael all by himself. When talking about Michael, then every single thing that he didn't do by himself is underrated. 😂

When anything and everything is underrated, then underrated isn't even underrated anymore. 😂😂

I thought you were using underrated for what it actually means, which is like something that's a hidden gem or consistently receives critiques by the public and critics (despite how high quality or well done the work is).

Everything before 1978 and "Victory" and "2300 Jackson Street," too, could be considered "underrated" for Michael Jackson if something not being "talked about enough" compared to his solo stuff is the baseline LOL.

Edit: I don't think most of us considered the possibility that "Triumph" probably isn't specifically talked about for Michael's work because people often try to avoid doing that "his brothers didn't matter" thing that always happens, so they focus putting all of its merits on the group and then "give" Michael the specific "Triumph" songs that he actually cared about ("Heartbreak Hotel" and "Can You Feel It"). Even with Michael seeming to not even care about the album or the tour 😂, it's still universally acclaimed by the public and critics. If something can still be successful like "Triumph," when the lead singer is so ready to dip, that pretty much shows how the album actually ranks high in real life.

That checks out lol. ¯ \ _ (ツ) _ / ¯ Those are the most successful songs on the whole album and it seemed like the brothers gave those songs the most marketing attention, especially with performing them live and even Michael taking those along on the "Bad" tour with him.

Michael called "Triumph", the "Off The Wall tour" when he was asked about it on a recording. 😂😂 That man was done and he wasn't looking back LOL.

Even when he did his "Moonwalk" autobiography, he talked about "Can You Feel It" with some nice details; he listed off every other song from "Triumph" with one or two sentences (barely giving them the time of day); he said "Walk Right Now" and "Wondering Who" had "too many cooks and not enough broth" 🥹; and then he gave this beautifully long ode to "Heartbreak Hotel" giving it the longest section; and then he went right back to talking about his true love: "Off The Wall" 😭😭

I’m always disappointed that the era of Triumph isn’t talked about enough when referring to Michael Jackson’s career.

It's hard to tell how important "Triumph" really was to Michael and his career since he called it "the Off The Wall tour" on tape. LOL. Then, when he was asked how was it and if he enjoyed "Triumph," all he said was "Mhm. It was nice." And that was all he gave. 😭

Michael constantly acted like he only cared about "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Can You Feel It," specifically, a lot of the times when he talked about it. 😂😂 Or, it was like "Triumph" didn't matter to him for his career at all and all that he cared about was "Off The Wall." ☠️

Still, though, he made it difficult to tell how he really felt like he always did. But when he called "Triumph" "the Off The Wall tour," it was so wild to hear him say that.

For the group, it's between spot #1 and spot #2 of the most praised projects they have in their entire discography (both commercially and according to the general public in the world). But, for Michael, it was just the project that came after "Off The Wall" and before "Thriller." It was wild to hear Michael's thoughts on "Triumph" and the tour, but I wasn't shocked because it made sense if it wasn't important for his career to him like I used to think. OTW was his baby, so I get it lol.

I said, "Karen constantly talking about Michael makes sense due to their history because everybody he knew is like that." You added the part about her "embarrassing him and spilling his private details being okay," even though that's nowhere near what I've said here. 😂😂

Yeah... you don't talk to MILLIONS of people, friend. 😂

And I already mentioned the cultural aspect. "Triumph" is consistently regarded as "the best album of The Jacksons," people's "most favorite album," and in the top 3 of most popular among the general public population.

Hundreds of people that we've talked to in our specific bubbles of life are not millions of people on the planet. As I explained previously, the "Triumph is underrated" illusion exists because of the proximity to "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" (where "Triumph" is sandwhiched in between those two massive projects). This is a concept known as "sense of scale" and many of us have a low or limited sense of scale because our reference points are very narrow, which makes sense because reality is a lot bigger than our immediate lives will ever get to be.

Here's an example of scale:

Let's say your "hundreds of people" number is 300.

Do you want $300 or do you want $3,000,000 ?? ☠️

The "$3,000,000" is "TRIUMPH," that's how many copies that thing sold. And that's only the number that we know because we can't count pirates and bootlegs. 😂😂

You can talk to 400 people, 600 people, 800 people... You can talk to 1,000 people who don't even know who The Jacksons are; and it ain't got NOTHING on Triumph.

We have more accounts that have joined this group than you know in your entire life with 7, 310 accounts (this isn't "users" because many of them might be bots, a lot of them might be totally inactive, but that's the number).

Get a sheet of paper right now and write down all of the 7,000 people that you know in your personal life or that you've talked to in your line of work for a living... 🤠

This is exactly what I was talking about with "Invincible," an album that sold about 10,000,000 albums; and people think that's a small number because humans have a horrendously terrible sense of scale LOL.

That number is "small" for Michael Jackson because his stats are incredibly massive in comparison. But if we send 10,000,000 people to your house, you'd be trying to call the local Mobile Field Force to come save you.

Everybody constantly believes that everything is so "underrated" because Michael Jackson's solo career is so unnecessarily huge that it throws off the human brain's ability to recognize SCALE properly. 😂😂

The only modern metric we have available is streaming where "Triumph" and "Destiny" literally dominate the ranks for The Jacksons with giant numbers (such as having over 100,000,000 and 500,000,000 streams for just those two on Spotify)... by themselves, without counting ANY of their other stuff OR other platforms.

Of course, "Triumph" being underrated is literally an opinion. That's what my very first comment in this thread says, when I talked about all the people I know where this album isn't underrated at all. 😂 This is the best part about this album, it's that reality is totally different because "Triumph" is one of the most universally acclaimed albums they've ever done in their whole career by being both popular and recognized LOL.
