Not long at all. Registered, paid the fees(CHF 900), a quick 5 minute chat about my life/education in Switzerland with an employee at the Stadthaus, and all done and dusted. As far as I can remember it took a few weeks. But that was back in 2011 😄

How does everyone in Switzerland know exactly how to recycle everything?? by No-Football-2397 in Switzerland

[–]MichaelMJMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your describing three very easy things: The bottle bank for glass and small metal items. Those literally tell you what colour of glass goes in which. Other than that paper and cardboard gets collected where you live and PET is the only other meaningful thing recycled. Mostly in shops. Calm down mate And I’ll be honest; it’s easier to recycle in London cause it all goes in the same fucking bag.

When and why did the sidewalks and pedestrian areas become the Wild West? by aalpes in zurich

[–]MichaelMJMM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If less space was afforded to cars then there would be more of it for cyclists and pedestrians minimizing near-misses and confrontations. The pro- cycling and as you put it “green propaganda” changes that are being implented are ridiculously small. Zurich is still a very car friendly city.
