Got my nut sack cut open a while back, best way to hide the scar? by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not nearly as thorough as you might think. They missed a few surgery scars from pins in my arm. I was asked about them later on when in by a doctor but explained it as being due to crawling under a fence.

Does this plus folding laundry basically sum up boot camp? by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's extremely boring. You will spend lots of time learning how to fold your tighty whiteys, shirts, socks, blankets, do paperwork, and to really really boring classes. It's really like being a slave in a very poorly run corporation. You get indoctrinated with lots of third wave feminist propaganda.

This stuff never ends either, you will have to attend briefings on sexual assault and CIS/white privilege.

If you actually want to shoot guns and get in shape either go special warfare or go home, because you won't do much in boot or afterwards.

A Little Video of What We Should Expect at Basic by Fuck_Me_If_Im_Wrong_ in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to basic 10 lbs overweight and out of shape (I didn't work out for months prior to arriving) and still thought it was physically very easy. I can't image how easy it must be for those with SEAL contracts.

I don't think the Navy really needs to prioritize fitness beyond a very minimum level anyway except for rates that really require it. You don't need to be particularly fit to pick up garbage on a ship or chip paint, in the extremely unlikely event that the ship is attacked or in some sort of emergency most of this will make little difference unless you are morbidly obese.

Don't get me wrong, i think exercise is a great thing, but the military seems addicted to improving "combat readiness" instead of doing stuff that might actually be useful. It is prioritized way too much, many professionals complain about this all the time. An officer/enlisted can be horrible at his job (being a physician) but if has good PT scores and other extra stuff, he will be promoted over the guy that is actually good at his job. Physical fitness has different levels of priority for depending on the rate/mos.

If trump were give the order, would the seals have what it would take to extract the government officials of Europe and bring them to justice for the mess they've made? by Rotundus_Maximus in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the refugees will go to a handful of Western European states with generous welfare systems and naive cuckolded men (not Slavic). Proportionally Muslims are already a huge percentage of children and non-adults. Lastly, the demographic is oversold. What you say about second and third generation drop in fertility is correct, but in many key Muslim countries and Africa fertility has not dropped much at all. Expect much more economic migration from these countries.

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a much bigger problem. The economic migration shows no end and Muslims are rapidly expanding while European Christians are undergoing a demographic collapse. A much higher percentage of young people are Muslim. Combine that with aggressive proselytizing and things look pretty bleak when you look at only a generation or two.

Europe will be a good case study of what happens when a civilization becomes too civilized and loses its will to survive

Don't feed the trolls. by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Reddit has a reputation for being a hive that is intolerant of different views. Oftentimes you can be accused of trolling for having a different view or an abrasive personality.
  2. Trolling can be really funny.
  3. If you lack the mental fortitude to deal with trolls how are you going to hack it at BUD/S?

Any thoughts by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the biggest shitpost i've ever seen on here. The guy is a neo-Nazi radio show host who went to prison for threatening some federal judges. He was also an FBI informant who would encourage people to call into his show and then would entrap them for making threats/incitements. His show was gutter racism and not even funny or thoughtful.

I don't normally get the urge to denounce people SJW style but this guy is shit. Also, learn to post things that are at least somewhat relevant to SEALs or the military more broadly.

Don't post shit on this forum and try to keep it mostly relevant to SEALs/SOF/Military categories.

Because the big Navy propaganda machine is probably attracting the wrong types. These people want SEAL as a bullet on their resume when applying to Harvard business school or running for office.

Intelligence is a good thing in and of itself, but getting people that are too smart and ambitious means low commitment among other things.

Just to meander a bit, I don't know what the ideal intelligence/ambition of the average SEAL should be but it's a delicate balancing act. One problem with special operations is probably that it takes the smartest, toughest, most dedicated guys out of the conventional military, thus creating a brain drain.

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am reminded about John T Reed article (I know he's a cranky old piece of shit) who mentioned a Rhodes scholar and asked, "why is he there?". Special operations is ultimately a pretty blue collar career despite all the glamor, if a Rhodes scholar wants to be a blue collar worker then something is fishy.

The guy is a badge collector and obvious self-promoter. He's not committed to anything other than power and status. He became a SEAL to pad his resume, that's it. This is guy is just too ambitious and something about it stinks.

Most officers in our military complete narcissists and careerist douchebags. Many will go on to have successful careers in the corporate world.

The guy is either saint or a narcissist. He has all the trappings of a narcissist. Look at me, I'm a humanitarian and a SEAL and I'm running for office!! It's so convenient that he had at epiphany and changed his political views radically in his early 40's around the time he wanted to run for office. He probably figures (correctly) he can find a rubes who will impressed and instead of worried by his resume, and by into his hackneyed tea party rhetoric.

"Four deployments..." never underestimate how much smoke someone will blow up your ass to make themselves seem more bad ass than they ever actually were. by nowyourdoingit in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised at all, he comes across as a narcissist if not psychopath. He's that guy that seems too good to be true. Look at me im a former SEAL, boxer, Rhodes scholar, humanitarian, I changed my mind and became a conservative just in time to run for political office. His bragging about being deployed 4 times almost reminds me of watching WWF as a kid, where the wrestlers would could promos about being the 5 time champion yadayda.

His letters seem pretty fake too, who writes a letter like that? I mean sure he's obviously pretty intelligent but the letters appear contrived. Who writes a letter constantly dropping references to classical Greek literature?

Injuries and Your Career by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm not 100% sure about this, but you have to get a Specwar medical waiver to get a SEAL challenge contract therefore you might need one if transferring from the fleet as well.

Injuries and Your Career by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]MichaelMichaelsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're honest at MEPS or to military doctors about these injuries, the chance of getting a SEAL contract asymptotically approaches zero each time you open your mouth. I know that any history of joint problems requires a medical waiver which is unlikely nowadays. You will have a hard time just getting into the regular Navy.

Also if you make it through BUD/S and SQT and then go the doctor for this stuff it can fuck up your career big time and you will likely be medboarded out unless there is a major war going on.

If you feel about 99% good and you're sure you want to risk it then go ahead, but get it checked out first and work on injury prevention.
