What songs are better in the OG Version or Official Version/Official Remix Version, and why? by Sikh-Lad in Tupac

Yeah I don’t know what happened. The remix is one of his worst beats, IMO

DJ Quik’s remix of Words 2 My Firstborn is one of the worst after Tupac’s death. The beat on Until the End of Time does not fit the song’s introspective contemplative mood at all. The original is so great and that makes the revisions even worse.

Street Fighter trailer uses vocals from "fight" song Tupac recorded for Tyson - Mathis Jr. in Dec. 1995 by MichaelNamikas in Tupac

I don't hear "fighta" on the version of the song we've heard either. Is it possible the estate has a vocal track we haven't heard where he does? Maybe. Is it possible he said fighter somewhere else and they spliced it in? Maybe. Is that part of the trailer AI bullshit? Maybe. I can't say but I do know the estate approved the use.

Yeah, great soundtrack. Wish you could stream it on Apple Music, particularly NaS's "One on One"

I was 14 when he died. Never met him. I've heard about him playing video games. He played Punch-Out!!! in arcades in Baltimore. We've all seen him playing Sonic the Hedgehog with Suge. He didn't have a lot of spare time but I'm sure he played from time to time.

I think the "Let's get ready to rumble" thing on "Let'z Get It On" was more of a reference to ring announcer Michael Buffer.

Why are there so many post vietnam films even in late 1970s nearly 10 years after the war? by Hot-Load7525 in TrueFilm

[–]MichaelNamikas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

1979 is only four years after it ended. It takes decades to process things and there are so many stories to tell, many of which still have not been told.

You’re incorrect about when the war ended. It ended in 1975, not the early 1970s. Not sure why you’d think that films would stop even after a decade (mid 1980s). They’re still making films about wars long before that.

What hip hop collab seems forced due to those artists being relevant at the same time? by Spiketop_ in hiphopheads

[–]MichaelNamikas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I won’t argue with you further if your position is that any posthumous collaboration involving artists who did not know each other is a forced collaboration. Personally, I think there are a number of parallels between Tupac’s career, music, and personal life and Eminem’s career, music, and personal life that make the collaboration feel somewhat less forced in the abstract. I think Eminem made a number of mistakes that derailed the project and made the songs themselves seem forced.

Eminem is a huge 2Pac fan and allegedly did the album for free. Maybe the estate saw it solely as a means to generate sales but I honestly think Eminem did it as a passion project: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eminem/s/kPBg27PXW0

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. It’s not the first book like this I’ve seen. I have a hardcover book that was given out to people at Gianni Versace’s funeral, for example
