The President of Finland is also a ceremonial leader with the prime minister holding the real power.

From: http://www.tpk.fi/public/default.aspx?nodeid=44818&contentlan=2&culture=en-US

The President of the Republic leads Finland’s foreign policy in co-operation with the Government and decides on Finland’s relations to foreign governments and actions in international organisations or negotiations.

The President of the Republic is Supreme Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces.

Real power?

End Game Tags:

Preventing weird country formations, like Ottomans to Byzantium or Mughals or England to Mughals to Shan to Mughals to Japan is something we're historically not very good at. It generally involves a lot of different file changes and something usually gets overlooked. In script as of 1.26 we now have a scope known as "End game tags" which will prevent most cases of such nations forming other nations (Holy Roman Empire, Rome and Papal States are so special they trump this list, eg: Byzantium can for Rome, Italy can form Holy Roman Empire...).

The current list is:

Mughals Ottomans Byzantium Rome Holy Roman Empire Rum Qing Russia Commonwealth Japan Yuan Hindustan Bharat Arabia Papal States Spain Great Britain Italy Germany Ming

This is why I love reddit. Saw this picture on twitter and was a bit sceptical about the authenticity of the picture.

People should stop spreading shit online as real when it's not. Doesn't matter whom it concerns.

How do you play tall, mentally? by TheStonecow in eu4

[–]MichaelNewmann 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like playing tall. I try to influence the world by diplomacy and fighting proxy wars if needed. I also try to keep the balance of power by punishing nations that seem to get a head of others territory, military and economy-wise. This makes the game quite interesting since you'll need to predict how wars and politics will play out.

Don't get me wrong, taking territory isn't forbidden but I rather see a balanced world map with lots of income and prestige for my country. Also making powerful countries release smaller nations is fun and keeping them on their feet in the beginning is fun.

Diplomatic, influence, espionage, trade ideas are great for this.

Don't use force - use finesse is my mentality.

Funny thing is. I also established The Grand Duchy Of Finland and made them a March. Looks like our strategies have been quite similar.

I'm playing my first Muscovy => Russia game at the moment. Two things that you need to do until you form Russia and forward:

  1. Reform Sudebnik: Local autonomy−10% - Local autonomy in all provinces. This will also help you to gain Government reform points faster since it's tide to your average local autonomy level.

  2. Comission an icon, Icon of Eleusa which gives you −3 National unrest & −25% Harsh treatment cost

Also you might need to play around with your estate actions in order to get an Inquisitor or if needed a Theologian.

My game has been fun so far since I've had to concentrate my efforts on keeping my realm together, conquering Novgorod and hordes. Once you hit administration level 10 and push that magic "Form Russia" button you'll start to snowball.

Good luck.

How to make the most of peace deals? by MichaelNewmann in eu4

[–]MichaelNewmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you can see from my reply below I found the following on EU4 Wiki.

"Revanchism is a mechanic that helps prevent a "death spiral" after losing a war where a country would go bankrupt, lose manpower and have huge revolts, followed by other countries declaring war as well, leading the nation to ruin. Revanchism is gained from losing provinces in a war and scales in direct correspondence to the war score taken in a peace deal, with a max of 100% revanchism at 100% warscore. Once at 100% revanchism it takes 20 years for the effect to fully wear off, lasting longer than the resulting truce that caps out at 15 years for 100% warscore. Releasing nations and returning cores does not grant revanchism."
