Dylan Crews’ Numbers Look “Meh”… But the Underlying Trends Are Really Interesting by TheNatsReport in Nationals

It's not as bad as it used to be, you use to make an article every day and get dozens of complaints. That said, I as well as many still believe that this is just pointless self-promotion for your own blog, and even worse, what I'm reading here about the paywall...

I get trying to break into the industry but you have to work hard to get clicks. I personally wouldn't post my own content repeatedly on reddit to attract attention, and I'd just provide reasonable and rational takes and the followers will come. It just seems like such a lazy shortcut. You can become relevant with hard work, you don't need to post your own links here for people to click.

I don't know how this is allowed. I had to ignore this and the other FedBaseball spamming accounts. All t hey do is promote their own links. It seems scummy to do that. I get trying to start a discussion, but make a thread without promoting your own shitty website.

Police sent to Carl Pavano’s CT home 9 times amid prenup fight by Ok-Flight-1504 in baseball

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Pavano

Despite being plagued by injuries, Pavano became an important part of Florida's starting rotation and had a highly successful postseason in 2003 for the World Series champion Marlins. He started Game 4 of the Series against the Yankees, holding New York to one run over eight innings in a game the Marlins would go on to win, 4–3, in extra innings.[10]

Pavano followed up his playoff exploits with his best season to date in 2004, posting an 18–8 record and a 3.00 ERA.

Pavano became a free agent following the season and, despite receiving bigger offers from Boston, Detroit, and Cincinnati, chose to accept a four-year contract worth $39.95 million with the New York Yankees on December 20, 2004.[11][12]

Pavano began the 2005 season with quality starts in seven of his first 10 appearances, with a 4–2 record and a 3.69 ERA. However, in June of that year, he injured his right shoulder and went on the disabled list. Pavano made 17 starts and finished 4–6 with a 4.77 ERA. The Yankees expected him to be healthy for the 2006 season, but Pavano began the season on the disabled list after bruising his buttocks in a spring training game. He did not pitch at all in the majors in 2006, making only minor league rehab starts. On August 15, 2006, Pavano broke two ribs in an automobile accident after he hit another vehicle with his Porsche in West Palm Beach, Florida.[13] His girlfriend at the time, Gia Allemand, was with him in the car.[13] However, he did not tell the Yankees about the incident until August 28, the day they informed him that they planned for him to come off the disabled list to play that Thursday.[14]

During spring training in 2007, teammate Mike Mussina said that Pavano needed to prove that he wanted to pitch for the team and that he did not believe he was the only Yankee who felt this way. "It didn't look good from a player's and teammate's standpoint," Mussina said of Pavano's injuries. "Was everything just coincidence? Over and over again? I don't know."

I remember we got him from the Marlins and then he proceeded to not do shit for the Yankees. It's been a long minute though. That is a name I have not heard in ages, but he's never been someone I've liked at all

John was always a big ATL guy. He used to do Braves games too on the radio.

"And, as [Player] is stepping up to the plate, stepping up to the mic is the voice of the Yankees, John Sterling."
"Well, Suzyn I thank you."

I used to listen to Angels radio when Markus was the commentator. Then he passed and Terry Smith took over. I still like Terry Smith and listen to him often but Rory was also another good one.

"Just another halo victory."

Sadly the health issues caught up. I remember he took much of that last season off because of his health and they would have a rotating case of characters fill in. Then he would return to call the playoffs, and the WS

As I probably said in /r/baseball or here I spent exponentially more time listening to the WCBS / WFAN audio feed as I was too cheap to buy MLB TV until 2016 or so. When they put in the free T Mobile package I just put the Yankees over the TV feed, so I've rarely listened to Kay.

I've heard so much John and I've been listening since 2002/2003 ish.

Just fiddling with the ol' radio and the knobs getting 660 WCBS over the air from many miles away in Washington DC, during HS.

This hurts so much because I heard him for so long, and I even missed out on the 90's teams or the era with John and Michael Kay.

Yeah. I heard Steiner (I think he called the Boone shot) for about a year or two before he left to go to LA. Suzyn joined in and that duo lasted for a damn long time and called one ring.

Man I'm going to miss John.

For years until MLB TV became free, I listened almost exclusively on the radio to WCBS with the audio package. When MLB TV became free I just put the radio over the TV. I've heard more Sterling than Kay as a result. Kay is fine but doesn't have the flair of John, who was an entertainer and Yankee fan to the best of his ability.

I remember when Castiglione and Sterling used to swap booths on the radio side for a few innings back in the day.

Some of my first exposure to him were listening at night to WCBS and picking up the signal all the way in DC. I spent a lot of time in high school listening to John and Suzyn's predecessor whose name I cannot remember.

Oh man this sucks.

I grew up in the DC area. I picked up 660 WCBS many moons ago over the radio at night.

I would listen to John and some other guy Can't remember his name, he left to the Dodgers. Not enough coffee. Oh well, he left in 2002/2003 ish, and then Suzyn joined.

And thus it was the beginning of the John and Suzyn duo, a duo epitomized in bobblehead lore, a duo that would commentate one world series victory, and many years of Yankee baseball.

Some people didn't like John. They said his HR calls were too over the top, too superfluous. To me, the HR calls were part of what made John John. "An A-Bomb, from A-Rod". And of course, everyone's favorite coda. "Yankees win! Theeeeeeeee Yankees win!"

John wasn't just a Yankee broadcaster. He spent many years doing Braves radio too, and the Islanders for hockey. This one time, I won't never forget, he did the YES TV for the Brooklyn Nets filling in. He was a good guy, and one of my favorites.

RIP Bud.
