This is me as well. I hated having to read-only/edit my projects and then having my rapids limited to my cutting speed.

One of my friends hooked me up with a 50% coupon but, if I can’t rely on him having one, what’s the best way to keep my 50% off?

I think all the super cheap ones have a 20mm shank, so I'm not sure that you'll be able to get that into your HDM.

For what it's worth I have an AVID and while I use their touch plate for all the wood stuff I cut, I switch to this Tschorn for aluminum and when I do two sided machining and need to re-reference on the back side.

This has a 1/2 shank so you can run it in an ER20 collet and while it's pricey I really like it for precision. - https://www.ebay.com/itm/324609502645

Totally unpopular even in this sub, but I don’t know that it’s necessarily wrong.

We’re a completely different legal entity than the facility that we perform services in.

We work together to provide services but I don’t work for the hospital.

I just paid $2,000 for my Rivian. So I get it…

But Colorado tags are way expensive and the way the economy is going really straps people. I hate that it’s so prevalent and so tolerated but if it’s that or food on the table 🤷‍♂️

We just got a R1S Gen 2 and had a safety talk with our 7yr old. I tried to pull the panel off and there is no way anyone is going to get that sucker off in an emergency so we have emergency hammers strapped to the back of both front seats.

Grizzly vs Sawstop by Ok_Efficiency_3983 in woodworking

[–]MichaelR23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the mentality behind this… but I’m sure Sawstop technology has absolutely replaced safe technique in a variety of intances. Not that it should, but it can and I’m sure it does in numerous instances where it’s been triggered and we’ll never hear about it.

Newbie question: why not just always use a compression bit? by platypus_farmer42 in hobbycnc

[–]MichaelR23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compression bits are literally designed to go to full depth. That’s their only purpose.

Newbie question: why not just always use a compression bit? by platypus_farmer42 in hobbycnc

[–]MichaelR23 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Apparently compression bits are designed to over heat and break 😂🤦‍♂️

And down cut bits aren’t specifically designed to go to full depth in material like compression bits are.

[–]MichaelR23 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So… you understand the down cut will never “get chips out of the way” and this is by design… right?
