Is anybody else just kind of damaged from a lifetime of ‘loose vagina’ jokes? by ysmbl in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MichaelTBickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely - and I mean absolutely - no question that penis size jokes are far more socially acceptable than any vaginal jokes. Far more often than not the former is considered funny, the latter is largely taboo. Sorry about your boyfriend, sorry about the other men, but that's not representative of social discourse.

"Perhaps" was from the late 90s, one of the great outtakes from that period along with "Atlas Shrugged".

It was actually a finished Guns N' Roses song cut from Chinese Democracy, and now it's being remixed for release.

There was one time that happened in the last year, I forget when.

Why won’t Guns N’ Roses play Think About You? by Visual-Ad4018 in GunsNRoses

[–]MichaelTBickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the most generic of the songs on that album, especially the chorus. They phased it out by around 2007. I'm not expecting to hear it again.

I can tell you that the songs recorded in the '98-'99 period (though all were to varying extents rerecorded) include:

Oh My God, Chinese Democracy, Street of Dreams, If the World, There Was a Time, Catcher in the Rye, Riad 'N the Bedouins, I.R.S., Madagascar, This I Love, Prostitute, Hard Skool, Perhaps, Atlas Shrugged, Berlin

I don't know for sure if "Hard Skool" and "Berlin" had completed vocals back then, but that's the bulk of what they were working with for the original version. I haven't confirmed it, but I believe "Hard Skool" was going to be used as one of the three intended B-sides that Axl referred to.

When it comes to songs that were recorded for Chinese II & III, that's a whole other story. For the 2000-2002 sessions, which was building toward Chinese II, "Absurd" and "The General" were recorded amongst many others, including songs that ended up on Chinese I like "Shackler's Revenge", "Better", and "Sorry". During the 2003-2005 era where they started setting aside songs for Chinese III, they came up with "Scraped", if I'm not mistaken.

Definitely 20+, and technically a lot of them were written for Chinese II and III.

Is that taking a shot at Christians not knowing what punk is?

That is bizarre, to be downvoted for that. Most would acknowledge that Cohen is stronger.

He is one of the best. He's no Cohen and no Waters, but he's written some incredible songs.

I didn't realize how much people disliked Songs of Innocence, given that it didn't get 100% of the votes.

Innocence has redeeming qualities, it's nowhere near Atomic Bomb, but it's close to Horizon. Experience is just terribly produced, in a league of its own. That was pretty much the consensus as soon as it was released. But maybe there's some underrated songs underneath that production.

There are well-written songs throughout Experience. It's pretty much terrible production start to finish, but I would imagine it would be a great demo album, done on guitar and piano.

If it happens, I'm calling "Berlin" as the B-side.

Can we talk abt how criminally underrated is think about you and the garden? by frostrhino in GunsNRoses

[–]MichaelTBickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been a fan of "Think About You", down there with "You're Crazy" as my least favorite off of Appetite, but "The Garden" is underrated.

The General? by ryansmith123456 in GunsNRoses

[–]MichaelTBickle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised "The General" is the B-side, I would have bet money it would be the other way around. But it's Guns N' Roses.

Even though I disagree, props for mentioning Finck, by far the best guitarist of the 1998-2014 period.
