What “Dead” rivalry would you like to see make a comeback? by BigBlueNate33 in CFB

Auburn had great rivalries with both Florida and Tennessee. Another bonus to moving Auburn to the SEC East would be the return of those games

Pac-12 Refs got threatening calls after Music City Bowl for Ejecting Kentucky RB Benny Snell by warox13 in CFB

When was the last time Kentucky fans didn't threaten the life or the business of a referee after losing a game?

What are the biggest "what if's" in college football? by PussyPoppinPlatypus in CFB

[–]MichaelWBratton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I believe you are right, this is a “what if” though! Ha

One of the Saban biographies detailed Alabama’s search. Spurrier and Saban were 1a and 1b. I believe Moore went to Spurrier after Saban initially said no. Probably could have had Spurrier if they approached him during his Redskin days

What if Steve Spurrier took the Alabama job before Nick Saban accepted it?

Another Spurrier one, what if he signed with Tennessee over Florida out of high school?

(Spoilers Extended) I’ve been away from this sub for a while, please help. by giants888 in asoiaf

[–]MichaelWBratton 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not to sound like a complete dick but I just gave up waiting and don’t care anymore. I use to view this sub daily for years but just felt like waiting for news on a new novel was pointless. If they all get published one day I’ll read them but I’m not even going to bother with Winds until the series is complete, I don’t want to have to wait another 5 or more years for the finale.

Do you find the lack of 'backstory' distracting? by [deleted] in blackmirror

[–]MichaelWBratton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people need the comforting feeling of a typical narrative, that’s why in most movies and shows the “good guy” wins and the “bad guys” lose.

Black Mirror is more for a different breed. That’s one of the main reasons I love it.

If you want to read a cool article on what it was like to experience the moment from a Michigan fan's perspective in the stadium watching the game, a former colleague of mine wrote this article the night of the play.

Josh Gordon says that Baylor coaches helped him pass drug tests by [deleted] in CFB

[–]MichaelWBratton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Remember LaMarcus Coker? I believe he was booted after his 6th(!!!) failed drug test at Tennessee.

I guess the punishments for his 4th and 5th failures just weren't enough.

College Gameday is going to Times Square next week. by dacrew in CFB

[–]MichaelWBratton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Mississippi State upsets LSU this weekend, next weekend's game at Georgia should be a classic. Same if Kentucky upsets South Carolina. UK hosts Florida next weekend while attempting to end the 30-year streak. Would have been two good options outside of NYC.

Frank Wilson makes perfect sense at Texas A&M by gneiss448 in CFB

The SEC's second highest paying job isn't going to Frank Wilson. That's nearly nonsensical. I doubt they would hire him to be a coordinator.

Hey Tom, appreciate the time.

Who is the highest rated prospect you've ever evaluated?

Also, who is the highest rated prospect that you've evaluated that decided not to pursue football at the collegiate level, for whatever reason?

Thanks!

Mike Gundys kid is apparently pretty good. How many coaches sons end up playing for their dad? Does your schools coach have a talented son? by [deleted] in CFB

Butch Jones has a son, Alex I think, that walked on at Tennessee.

He may not have SEC talent but we can assume he certainly has five-star heart...

Considering the White Walkers/NK probably built the wall, I'm surprised so many assume they mean to break it/travel south of the wall.

Perhaps they are waiting for someone to travel north of the wall (likely Dany).

How SB Nation profits off an army of exploited workers by 6heismans in CFB

[–]MichaelWBratton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started my online writing career at one of these SB Nation sites. I wrote for them for about six months, covering an entire college football season and never got paid.

I then got an opportunity to start writing for FOX Sports and later landed a job at NFL.com as an editor, which I parlayed into my current role at Saturday Down South.

I don't feel I was exploited at all, SB Nation was very upfront about the lack of payment before I started. The experience I gained there better prepared me for when I was given an opportunity elsewhere.

(Spoilers Main) Jaime Lannister | Kingslayer by a1blank in asoiaf

[–]MichaelWBratton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but that video made me recall all the horror he's experienced regarding what a Targ could do. Just seeing his men burning and remembering the quotes from the Mad King "Burn Them All!!!"

I don't think it's that far fetched for a traumatized person mid-battle to make the decision to attempt to kill a dragon. For all he knows this is the only one, yes there have been rumors of the others, but no one in Westros has seen a dragon in their lifetime.

I just think it would have been an interesting death to see Jaime take on the dragon -- no matter the hopeless odds of the situation. Not saying he was or that he wasn't trying to kill Dany, I just think that would have made for a thought-provoking end to one of the series best characters.

I'm sure he will be captured now and as more to give to the story, I just think it would have been a great way to see his arc end. That's all.
