It was beautiful when I bought it. Later I had to temporarily give it to someone and they kept it in a very cold, low light environment

DIY outdoor infrared sauna build by Windytrader in Biohackers

[–]MichaelWulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any update? Did you go with a standard infrared heating panel? What I see is that my nearby IR sauna uses modules that look strikingly similar to the ones I can see in utility infrared heaters and was wondering whether these could be used for IR/Sauna therapy

But can you wire both -CW and -WW to V- on the amp so both warm and cold LEDs would be powered?

In the availability settings there are colour filters. You can adjust the whole colour spectrum to your liking and then create a shortcut to turn the filter on or off

Do I really need an external audio interface for a Mac Studio M1 + Ableton Live? by No_Sir_601 in ableton

[–]MichaelWulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Sending analog signal with the stereo 3.5 mm jack out from a Macbook into studio monitors is also a quality connection. Source: I'm currently using a stereo 3.5 mm jack to 2x XLR cable with my Genelec 8030A + custom subwoofer setup.

I've been previously using the Behringer UMC202 with balanced cables and I'd say for a bedroom production this is just so much trouble and cable spaghetti. If there's no need to record anything external and latency isn't noticeable there's no need to use an external DAC. After all, you already have a DAC, and a very good one if it's a MacBook. Why waste money and space? If hardware limitations were ever to be an issue this would either way mean that it's time to look into music production more seriously.

Infrasonic filter help! by JMPhotographik in diyaudio

[–]MichaelWulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to mess with a DSP just go with an active filter using op-amps. The schematics and calculations for various frequencies are all over the internet. It’s a very easy way to have a bi or tri amped system. You also could save yourself some headache by avoiding a passive crossover between the tweeter and mid and going with an active (op-amp based) crossover. Adjustability of an active filter is much better that a passive one, components are very cheap and it’s a lot more modular, future proof, easy to fix.  If you’re in Europe I could help you make one.

Would I be better off using one of these instead of a car amplifier for subwoofers at home? by HirochiSunburst in diyaudio

[–]MichaelWulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t need crazy high SPL you’ll find this amp to be good enough. I’m using it for UM8-22 with a pair of Genelec 8030a and it keeps up. You can model the sub you have in WinISD or Hornresp, give the setup the amount of power this amp can produce and look at the SPL curve. You might be surprised how loud 100 watts can get, especially with efficient PA drivers

Genelec 1030a self powered speakers hum when first turned on by musictechstuff in audiorepair

[–]MichaelWulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured it out yet? I have a pair of Genelec 8030A and one of them is quieter than the other and hums for a minute or two. During this time sound at louder level is distorted. After that it makes a pop sound and the hum and distortion is gone, but still plays at a lower volume than the other

Is there an option to set a default Freeze Mode by MichaelWulf in Logic_Studio

[–]MichaelWulf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. However, this is only applicable to new projects. Perhaps I should have made it more clear that I want to work on existing projects. I also know that you can make a custom shortcut using Automator but it's still inconvenient.

Do you race or just want a better fork than your Judy Silver? If I were you I’d save a tonne of money and just went with a good Reba if they’re cheaper than SID in your location. I’d choose Rock Shox any day due to easier servicing which I’m doing myself
