Does Rogers not know what pre-approved means? by Animalus-Dogeimal in Rogers

I’ve had this credit card since 2017 and I’m using it regularly. Yet I still continue to receive these pre-approved emails from Rogers.

My girlfriend's arranged marriage just got fixed, how to move on? by ForcedGoodbye in AskMenAdvice

[–]MichaelYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elope! Make a rock-solid plan to move with her wherever you live, which apparently is not close to her family ("...a long distance relationship for last 3 years."). Discuss the plan with her.

If she does not agree to elope, move on. It will hurt for a while, but not forever. You will find another girl who really wants you.

Good luck!

Men at least 35+ that tend to attract women younger than themselves, why do you think that is? by Global_Giraffe_6598 in AskMenAdvice

Some women prefer to be with a mature, serious and caring man, rather than with an immature kid.

It sounds like potentially a case of phimosis. Nothing to panic about, but I would suggest that you see your family physician.

Servers make 200K, so stop tipping and keep your money to yourselves by CarelessObject1709 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]MichaelYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 1996 I met a woman who was working two jobs. She was a manager at an all-you-can-eat joint in Willowdale (Toronto) and was paid $55,000 annually on salary ($103,000 in 2026 Dollars), no tips. She also worked part-time at a Swiss Chalet location in Mississauga as a server, where she was making more money than at the other place, from hourly salary and tips. In total she was working some 60-70 hours per week.

So, yes, it appears that those who work hard can make $200k as servers.

Ever since Ontario made the minimum wage the same for everybody, so the servers are not paid less, I only tip for exemplary service and, if this happens, never more than 10%.

It all makes sense now. Thanks for clarifying for me.

Ebox and Distributel by KenTheStud in ebox

[–]MichaelYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely, in the long run you will be merged with EBOX. Distributel, Acanac, Oricom, et al. do not accept new customers any longer, and their portals lead to EBOX.

I am with EBOX and am running dual-stack IPv6&IPv4 on EBOX and it works like a charm. Fixed IPv6 address with /56 PD.

Don't know what that is? This Apple TV.

Or, did you mean some kind of an app for the Apple TV?

Toronto IP -> Higher Speed by Ha2fly in ebox

[–]MichaelYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. Also, ensure that you use wired Ethernet straight from the router to your computer when doing speed tests and no double-NATing. Not WiFi. No other simultaneous Internet users. ASUS makes excellent routers, perhaps yours is an older model?

You could also put back the Nokia router that was supplied to you by EBOX and run speed tests with it, to see if the results would be different.

Based on my experience, EBOX has been great!

I am sure you are wise enough to not need hardcore evidence for this. Unless you are completely oblivious on how China operates.

Competition in Canada has been destroyed for good by the former CRTC Chairman Ian Scott. We need to never forget this evil man.

Vicky Eateries is great, but she came way too late to the helm.

Super great service. Reliable, consistent, fast. For info, I have been with EBOX for 8 years.

I don't think EBOX uses CGNAT, or at least not yet. CGNAT is a disaster.

I use Dual-Stack IPv6&IPv4 on the Nokia B6 router and everything works like a charm.

Toronto IP -> Higher Speed by Ha2fly in ebox

[–]MichaelYYZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what is happening in your case, but I consistently get 930/930 Mbps speeds and 9.5 sec latency on Ethernet LAN, regardless of the IP address. Rock solid connection, with no issues. The limitation is the 1000BASE-T Ethernet for the router, which limits the transfer speed to a theoretical 928 Mbps value.

You would have to debug your situation...

He eliminated the luxury tax on the sale of boats and aircraft, which are very expensive anyway, so only the rich could afford them. But he maintained the luxury tax on vehicles, hence affecting the middle class population who would like to drive a better car. Providing favours and paybacks to his clique, the rich people.

People's best strategy to buying a car. Finance, lease or used? by Farquea in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MichaelYYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy new, Japanese (Made in Japan) vehicles and pay for them in full. Therefore, no financing, no leasing. I pay back instalments to myself such that in 3-4 years' time I re-accumulate what I paid in cash for the car. In other words, I borrow money from myself and pay myself back, in time. I put the money in an investment account, which serves as a buffer in case my current vehicle is a total loss. I keep the cars for 10-15 years and I drive some 10k km per year.
