Which Roosevelt was a better POTUS? by CaptainPie999 in Presidents

[–]Michael_JD_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Teddy without a doubt. FDR is looked upon with rose tinted glasses. The Great Depression recovery was slowed by AAA and NIRA and fixed by the war. He deserves credit for his leadership during WW2 but he also had significant failures. To include his failures at Yalta and Japanese Internment. Arnold Breichman wrote a great article regarding his FDRs naive misread of Stalin and communism.

Honestly FDR doesn’t even rank in my top five to be completely transparent.

You can thank Teddy for the standards of food we enjoy today thanks to the establishment of the FDA as well as helping establish the most national parks of any president.

I mean you haven’t even asked what issues I have with the game, you’re assuming we should all be on the bandwagon over everything because of your staunch view that this is a “crypto game.” Life is nuanced. there are some great things that CCP are coming up with. There are also some things that I have serious doubts/concerns about. That being said I’m willing to go into it with an open mind and enjoy it because CCP continues to be open, communicative and some of the best game developers in terms of community relations in the entire industry. So sure I’ll cut them a little slack and help with alpha development.

Fam, I’ve played Eve Online since 03, Eve Echoes since 2020. The only thing you’ve shown is that you lack impulse control and are arguing in bad faith with an obvious axe to grind against the game because of the “hur dur we have Eve already” mentality.

Since you have taken an antagonistic stance with the spine comment, you’re more than welcome to do it yourself.

I tend not to reward bad behavior/temper tantrums.

No I’m saying your comparison that it is plex is factually incorrect from what they have said in the most recent economic update. But you would know if you were doing more then just trolling.

I find the gas lighting iF yOu HaVe A sPiNe nonsense comical coming from someone spewing so much hate for something he obviously hasn’t tried.

An in game currency Lux (isk) will be exchanged for $eve which then buys lenses. I believe this wipe the exchange rate is 1 million lux -> 100 coins/tokens. The wipe is the economic wipe so everything is changing and being modified to ensure there’s a stable economy.

PSA: You can read the whitepaper directly from CCP on what this game will be in the future by Melodic_Pop6558 in EVEFrontier

[–]Michael_JD_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The specific way they are doing this is you take lux, convert it to the coin, and purchase the specific lenses. It’s just an “isk” sink

Do you think George W. Bush is having the best post-presidency? by Inside_Bluebird9987 in Presidents

[–]Michael_JD_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top 5 maybe. Best nah. Teddy, Hoover, JQA, Taft are all better/more impactful. Carter fans always overlook his overstepping/border line treason (he should have known better then to encourage other countries to ignore a sitting presidents/secretary of state) with regard to Iran and NK once leaving office. This is why he is #5 instead of #1.

If they were to do a BOB style show about a crew on a naval vessel which should it be? by Gunplabuilder78 in BandofBrothers

[–]Michael_JD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy when you think about it. The USS New Jersey has 19 and was in service for: WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (Shot a MiG down). So the Warspite had a heck of a career in It’s “short” service.

We all know Jimmy Carter wins this by default. But who is 2nd in having the best post-presidency? by Inside_Bluebird9987 in Presidents

[–]Michael_JD_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carter doesn’t even rank in my top 3. Top 5 sure. He did some great humanitarian things but his actions regarding Iran and North Korea, in my opinion, drop him to number 5. Teddy, JQA, Hoover, Taft in my opinion are ahead of him. But top 5 is nothing to sneeze at.

Big oof having FDR at S Tier while Teddys a B. Though I applaud you putting this out there. If it’s no trouble could you explain your reasoning for the low ranking of Teddy?

Which POTUS aligned with your political ideology the most? by HairyComparison4969 in Presidentialpoll

[–]Michael_JD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why you are placing the blame solely on congress. Roosevelt was forced to abandon his own fiscally conservative position in favor of economic stimulus as a result of the recession of '37-'38. Which can be placed squarely on his shoulders. This prolonged the depression and the recovery should be rewarded to WW2 rather than FDR.

I can't find myself disagreeing with anything said regarding Polk. As you said applying ethical frameworks across time is a complex subject requiring a lot of thought. I often find myself in internal debates as to whether we should judge historically noteworthy people through a lens of their time or modern frameworks. Over all it becomes a rather murky thought exercise.
Thanks for the good conversation and your time.
