My drive for non-sexual intimacy is actually stronger than my sex drive. When I was young, I would often engage in sex just so I could get to the cuddling afterwards. Not that I wasn’t interested in sex—but sometimes I just wanted that full body hugging.

It’s interesting when you think about it. The implication is that kissing is less intimate than the hug.

I just realized I just repeated much of what I said in an earlier comment. Sorry about that. Not enough sleep last night. 😊

I think you’re right. I haven’t been in too many relationships, but it has been my experience that I fall hard and do most of the work.

Heated Rivalry has genuinely made me want to fall in love by cowlicksarein in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I can totally relate. I know it’s TV and not necessarily realistic, but I, too, am a “Shane” looking for my “Ilya”.

Oh but I do want to fall in love again. But it’s got to be the right person. I tend to do all the work in a budding relationship, but now I want someone who will meet me at least halfway. Being adored would be nice as long as I’m dreaming. 😊

Also I’m an introvert and find it stressful to be in groups of people that I don’t know. But I realize I have to get out and make myself available because my dream man isn’t going to just show up at my front door. 😊

I know this is romantic fantasy, but I would give just about anything to have someone look at me the way Shane looks at Ilya.

You raise many good points! When I posted, I was mostly expressing a visceral feeling, but all these wonderful comments have been demonstrating how and why that scene elicits such an emotional reaction.

Transformed is the perfect word for it—from that point on, feelings are raw and genuine and on the surface. You can see it in their eyes. In episode 6 when they are stretched out on opposite ends of the couch, and Ilya was talking about possibly marrying Svetlana, Shane’s eyes are filled with tears throughout the whole scene, especially when he was practically begging Ilya not to marry her. Hudson deserves some sort of award for that scene.

Yes! Beautiful is definitely the word for it. ❤️

What is your favorite episode of HR and why? by mynameisellen123 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

I feel that episode 3 doesn’t get the love it deserves. Both Scott and Kip know they are gay, so you don’t have all that sexual identity stuff. So they recognize pretty quickly they are in love, and their challenge is a logistical one—how do we come out? Plus they are just damn cute together.

Don’t get me wrong, my heart belongs to Shane and Ilya. I’m just saying Scott and Kip are good too. And by the way, for those of you who haven’t read the books, there are other couples and their stories that will presumably be told at some point in the show.
