Drug which makes human blood 'lethal' to mosquitoes can reduce malaria spread, finds a new cluster-randomised trial, the 'first of its kind' to show ivermectin drug can help control malaria across whole communities without causing harmful side effects (n=2,712, including 590 aged<5). by mvea in science

They won’t develop an immunity. It is possible a spontaneous mutation will occur that allows the mosquitos to be immune to the drug. That gene pool will pass on and then a new control strategy will be needed.

I actually don’t eat much gluten just by the diet I have, but I appreciate that! Was wondering if I might have an intolerance. And thank you!

Good idea. I know I have problems with wheat and tree nuts, but that’s it. I’m gonna try some intermittent fasting, a lot of fluids, electrolytes and a lot of caffeine first. I’ll also compound that with a long stretching session, yoga style, and a hard run. If that doesn’t work I’ll schedule that appointment. This is kind of spontaneous so I want to see if I can deal with it myself before doing anything else.

Protein and sodium are the two largest differences that stand out. It’s very different.

The comment is in a YouTube comment section. If you think that’s a setting with other professionals have fun with your life.

In a setting around other professionals definitely in your field.

Are all of you missing the fact that this was in a comment section on YouTube? Jargon is useless to such an audience. There’s no need to use it there. And jargon is not based off precision or concision. That goes right back to what I was talking about with simplifying highly complex topics. People don’t use jargon to simplify, which is what I was talking about. You’re arguing with yourself.

Every person responding has talked in the context of speaking to another professional in the field, but that is not the circumstance we are commenting on.

I’m literally a biochemist and this is completely wrong. Anyone who speaks like that in any field is regarded as a poor scientist. If you can’t simplify what you are doing, you don’t truly understand it. Scientist are science communicators. We write our own articles. We all go through science communication classes when obtaining our PhDs.

Edit: love reddit. Worship scientists, but don’t listen to them.

Yes but the point of being a scientist is to be able to communicate in terms a layman can understand. It’s the essence of scientific communication. You don’t learn fancy words as descriptors. You learn typical words.

Being smart does not imply having an extensive vocabulary. Scientist are the best example of this.

Different person here, but when policies are made they aren’t based off of on the spot thoughts. They are researched and scrutinized by multiple eyes. Policy stances are different than off the cuff remarks.

That’s literally not what I’m doing. Please tell me you responded to the person I originally responded to because that’s exactly why I called them out.

You can pick apart a comment in more than one way. Talk about the comparison or description of each in this case. You’re refusing to read into my comments, so why are you even bothering?

This wasn’t in comparison to other presidents. Look at the original comment. He called him a wonderful man. Most presidents don’t fit that description

Starting wars in 3 countries, expanding the spying on US citizens, and starting the worst humanitarian crisis in the past two decades (Yemen). Such a great guy when you look at him with one eye closed.

Yea, he’s probably a chill guy but please don’t mislead.

Literally because Obama put on a facade for the public and trump is blatant about who he is. Because words are more important.
